‘American Idol’ 2017: Kelly Clarkson Is The Difference Between The Reboot And NBC’s ‘The Voice’

Things are looking really tough for American Idol 2017. ABC’s reboot seems to be having a really tough time against NBC’s The Voice Season 14. These two shows have already competed against each other and brought out the best in the various new talents who took part in the show.

The irony is that some of the best talents who became famous through the Idol franchise have become a reason ABC’s show is having a tough time. Among them is Kelly Clarkson, who is apparently making things more difficult for American Idol’s return. Clarkson, who the idol makers were reportedly trying to convince to join as one of the judges, dumped her original franchise to choose its rival show, The Voice. She has become a strong advantage for The Voice even though American Idol reboot will have a bigger star as one of the judges: Katy Perry.

Kelly Clarkson won the first season of American Idol. It was the time when the Idol franchise was revolutionary in its concept, and Clarkson became an overnight star. However, her fame did not depend only on winning a talent hunt show. Her capabilities took her beyond the music reality show. Her debut “A Moment Like This” was the best-selling single in the U.S. in 2002. It also topped the Billboard Hot 100. She ruled the Billboard charts with her first studio album, Thankful.

Kelly Clarkson knew that she could do it even without the support from Idol management. She had high success even after separating from the franchise. She won two Grammys with her first album outside the franchise, Breakaway. After becoming the first artist in history to top Billboard’s adult contemporary, dance, country, and pop charts, she is back to give the Idol franchise a tough time. She has officially announced that she is excited to join the NBC show as one of the coaches.

Many believe American Idol reboot would have got a big advantage if it managed to convince Kelly Clarkson to join the show.

This is not the first time that Clarkson is associated with The Voice. She was a guest mentor in the Season 2 of the music reality show for Blake Shelton’s team. According to Clarkson, the timing is perfect at the moment for her to join The Voice. She said she had always enjoyed her role as an adviser and performer in the show. She apparently developed a great relationship with NBC during her Christmas special.

“I can’t wait to turn my chair and see the faces of up-and-coming artists and provide them with the help and support they’ve needed to break into the industry,” E! News quoted her as saying.

Kelly Clarkson is not joining the show just for fun. She is coming with a lot of competitive spirit. She openly challenged Shelton to watch out for her as she is coming to the show to win.

With her competitive spirit, she must be saying the same to American Idol 2017 as well. The Voice already has 12 seasons in only six years. In the past, it was tough competition to Idol. Last time, American Idol was taken off because it was having a tough time in earning as much as it was spending. With Katy Perry as one of the judges, it seems to be spending a significant amount for the star judge. The Voice, on the other hand, seems to have sheer quality as its one of the weapons.

Many believe the American Idol reboot would have got a big advantage if it managed to convince Clarkson to join the show.

“I always thought if they could get Kelly it would be a big deal,” Simon Cowell said.

No matter what, fans should expect a tough battle between the two shows in the coming days.
