Kailyn Lowry ‘Truly Loved’ Baby Daddy Chris Lopez Before Their Split
Kailyn Lowry and Chris Lopez may be expecting a child together in a matter of weeks, but according to a new report, Lopez’s involvement remains up in the air.
Although not much is known about Kailyn Lowry’s past relationship with Chris Lopez, a Radar Online report on May 16 shed new light on the situation and revealed what it was that led Lopez to abandon his pregnant girlfriend months ago.
Kailyn Lowry, 25, and Chris Lopez, 23, began dating at the end of last year after first meeting at Delaware State University. According to Radar Online, the couple started off their relationship as friends but ultimately embarked on a romance just months after the Teen Mom 2 star announced plans to divorce her now-ex-husband, Javi Marroquin.
“That’s when they took their relationship to the next level,” a source close to Kailyn Lowry explained to the outlet. “They kept things very private, but things were good.”
Then, after Kailyn Lowry learned she was pregnant with her third child, things between her and Chris Lopez reportedly turned toxic.
Chris Lopez “knew exactly what he was doing” when he helped Kailyn Lowry conceive, the insider explained.
“[Kailyn Lowry] became a relationship of convenience for him,” the source continued. “He never actually loved her. It was a relationship, but he just decided he wanted something different and things didn’t work out so they went their separate ways.”
Although Chris Lopez may have been using Kailyn Lowry, the insider claimed she “truly loved him” when they were dating and after they split, she was devastated.
“[Kailyn Lowry] was very upset when they broke up,” the source explained. “But she has never said anything bad about him. She wishes him the best and hopes he’s genuinely happy with his life.”
Both Kailyn Lowry and Chris Lopez made headlines earlier this month after they were both spotted in compromising situations with members of the opposite sex. As the Ashley’s Reality Roundup revealed to readers last week, Chris Lopez was first seen in bed with a mystery woman on Snapchat. Then, a short time later, Kailyn Lowry posted a photo of herself in bed with a shirtless man, also on Snapchat.
After the photo was shared, an insider spoke to E! News and revealed Kailyn Lowry’s mystery man was nothing more than a friend.
“[Kailyn Lowry] insisted he was just a friend but then they did a Snapchat of them in bed together,” the source shared. “She was upset by the negative response to the Snap. [Her ex] Javi Marroquin was especially angry about it and let her know.”
As for Kailyn Lowry’s relationship with Chris Lopez, the source added that the reality star has nothing do with the father of her third child and said she was planning to raise her baby on her own.
Kailyn Lowry echoed these sentiments in a now-deleted blog on her official website.
Although Kailyn Lowry acknowledged that her situation was far from ideal, she told fans in February that she was excited to welcome her third child.
“I can and I will survive anything,” she said at the time. “Having another child is something I am so happy about and I just can’t wait. My boys are so excited, those who love me are so excited, and I hope that everyone can just be happy for me during this time.”
Kailyn Lowry and her family, including her exes Jo Rivera and Javi Marroquin, are expected to return to MTV later this year in Teen Mom 2 Season 8.
