Thomas Robinson Suspended For Elbowing Pistons’ Jonas Jerebko [Video]

Sacramento Kings rookie forward Thomas Robinson has been hit with a two-game suspension for blatantly elbowing Detroit Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko in the throat earlier this week.

ESPN notes the incident, which occurred with 10 minutes left to play in Sacramento’s 105-103 win on Wednesday night, happened as the as the Robinson and Jerebko were jockeying for rebounding position. After being struck by Robinson’s elbow, Jerebko dropped to the floor clutching his throat.

Robinson was issued a Flagrant 2 and immediately ejected. He had three points, seven rebounds, one steal, one block and three turnovers in 12 minutes of action prior to getting the boot.

After the game, Jerebko said he had no hard feelings towards Robinson:

”It was just in the heat of the game. I’m all right and it’s all good. I have nothing against him. I have no problem at all.”

The suspension, which was announced by the NBA on Thursday, will force Robinson to the Kings’ games against San Antonio on Friday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

“I feel worst today after the aftermath,” Robinson told reporters Thursday. “You know, I knew I was wrong. So as a man, I have to take responsibility with that and I’ll take my consequences and move on.”

The 21-year-old former Kansas star added:

“Hopefully this doesn’t stick with me because I’m not that type of person. I’m not a bad kid, you know I just made a mistake and it won’t happen again.”

Robinson, the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, is averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in roughly 13 minutes per game.
