Actor Samuel L. Jackson is officially back in action as Frozone for the highly-anticipated sequel, The Incredibles 2.
The longtime actor shared the great news in an Instagram post earlier this week. The caption itself spoke volumes, but the fact that he posted a photo from inside of the actual recording studio spoke volumes for longtime fans of the iconic Pixar film.
“It’s about to go down… First recording session for… INCREDIBLES 2!”

Samuel L. Jackson helped to first bring the animated husband and undercover superhero to life for the 2004 Pixar film, The Incredibles. Perhaps one of his most memorable Frozone moments from the movie was heard when he was arguing back and forth with his off-screen wife about his super-suit.

The reports of The Incredibles 2 being under development first started circulating online last summer. Reports that writer/director Brad Bird was working on the script for the film started surfacing last April, according to IGN. However, fans have been waiting for a follow-up story about the heroic Parr family for more than a decade now. The popularity of such Pixar films as Toy Story, Cars, Finding Nemo, and Monsters, Inc. made it apparently obvious that the studio would eventually work on follow-up sequels for those films. For years, though, it seemed as if the Parr family was consistently overlooked for a sequel story.
In a June 2015 interview with IGN, Samuel L. Jackson confirmed that Frozone would apparently slide his way into the highly-anticipated sequel. Jackson stated that he was “really glad to see that they’re actually going to do it.”
“I would always think, ‘I wonder when they’re going to make a sequel to this movie? Are they afraid they can’t make one as good as the first one?’ So hopefully they’ve figured that out and Brad has it ready in his pocket, ready to go.”
Brad Bird did manage to shed some light on the sequel back in August during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. While promoting the Blu-ray release of his first film The Iron Giant, Bird was asked to open up about The Incredibles 2.

He was apparently tight-lipped when it came to giving out any major plot lines or details that would answer some of the biggest questions circling the minds of the first film’s biggest fans.
However, he did make it clear that the new film would be heading into “new directions.”
“It’s very actively moving, and we’re excited about it. [We’re] trying to take it in some new directions… Hopefully it’s the same characters and feel, but going in a new direction. I mean, that’s the trick with a sequel. It’s repeating yourself, without repeating yourself.”
Over the years, Samuel L. Jackson has always been known for his commanding voice (especially when he raises it to an alarming tone), his versatility as an actor along with his facial expressions that seem to speak volumes without him having to say a word. The way that he managed to bring Frozone to life still somehow reflected those admirable qualities within the character. Perhaps that is one of the main reasons why Frozone was such a memorable character in the movie even though he played more of a supportive sidekick role.
Samuel L. Jackson will make his triumphant return to the screen as Frozone in The Incredibles 2 when the movie flies into theaters on June 15, 2018.
