Selena Gomez Goes From Pop Star To Fashion Industry Darling

Selena Gomez is making a slow return to the spotlight. The singer made her first public return at the 2016 American Music Awards and briefly returned to Instagram before going back into hiding. Over the summer, Selena cancelled her Revival World Tour and announced that she’s taking a break to focus on her mental health and her ongoing battle with lupus.

Gomez cemented herself as a sexy pop star with her October 2015 release, Revival. She then went on to travel on her Revival World Tour until it was halted mid-summer. Gomez is shifting her focus on fashion at the moment as it was reported that she landed a $10 million deal to become Coach’s new celebrity brand ambassador, reports Page Six.

The “Hands to Myself” singer also wants to design her own clothing line for the brand as well. Gomez’s personal style has evolved over the years, as Vogue noted. She transformed from Disney star to a hip and sophisticated singer with help from stylists such as Kate Young and Christian Classen. Gomez has also appeared in ads for Louis Vuitton. She was also spotted at its shows in Paris, and has been seen rocking Nicolas Ghesquière designs on the red carpet, including the 2016 Met Gala back in May, reports Harper’s Bazaar.

This also explains why Gomez has been spotted wearing a Coach graphic tee and handbag last week. Signing Gomez on is a smart business move for Coach. The singer has been hailed as the 2016 queen of Instagram with 104 million followers. Gomez is the most-followed celebrity on the social media app. She also has her share of popular posts, including this image of Gomez sipping a bottle of Coke.

Coach is trying to appeal to the younger generation, says Arabella Greenhill, the fashion director and stylist who is credited for Gomez’s look on the January 2016 cover of InStyle UK.

“Coach is like the Mulberry of America and Stuart Vevers has done a great job of making it young and fresh,” she told the Telegraph. “Singing Selena is another smart move. Every teenager in the world will want her bag.”

Gomez has already been proving that with her style sense. The 24-year-old headed out for a night on the town in a head-to-toe black outfit. Gomez was spotted in Hollywood on Saturday night (Dec. 10), meeting up with a friend for dinner at celebrity hotspot Catch, reports InStyle. She wore black slim trousers paired with a black silk blouse. Gomez then accessorized her look with a matching structured bag, black strappy heels, and a choker.

She even made headlines when she went shopping in her pajamas. Gomez was photographed wearing a pair of $420 silk printed pajamas designed by Olivia von Halle, which she paired with a long black duster and black pumps. She further accessorized her look with a black clutch, a low ponytail, and a black clutch.

Before Gomez cancelled her Revival World Tour, it was reported that she was releasing special tour merchandise. Earlier this summer, Gomez took to Instagram to share a photo of her backup dancers wearing the sheer bodysuits that she wore onstage at one of her concerts. The details revealed that Gomez released this looks as part of her Revival tour collection. The rest of the details are scarce; however, the collection was an exclusive collaboration with Sami Miro, who is notorious for selling T-shirts and distressed jeans on her website for over $200.

No word on whether Gomez will release a follow-up to her Revival World Tour collection. But if Gomez can sell out her merchandise then she can sell out Coach handbags.
