Stassi Schroeder Says She Has Had Multiple Breakdowns Since Her Split From Patrick Meagher
Stassi Schroeder is speaking out on her breakup from her longtime boyfriend, Patrick Meagher. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Vanderpump Rules star said she has had “quite a few breakdowns” since splitting from the Sirius XM radio host earlier this year.
Stassi told ET that she really believed Patrick was “the one” and that she even thought they would get married someday. But sadly, the relationship had a lot of ups and downs.
“I think he’s a wonderful person… but right now, we do not mix well,” Schroeder told ET. “We fight. We fought way too much, it was way too up and down, we’re both so stubborn… It’s not like there wasn’t enough love, that was there.”
Stassi says she’s now taking things slow in the dating pool because she tends to rebound, which is something she doesn’t want to do this time. Schroeder revealed that she wants to have a long stretch of time without a serious boyfriend.
“I’m really trying hard to not get in a serious relationship because that’s what I do, that’s what I always do,” Schroeder said. “I go from one relationship to the next, and it’s just so intense right away. I never experience just dating and being on my own and I said I want to give it at least a year of not having a boyfriend.”
Stassi Schroeder has been vocal about her volatile relationship with Meagher, who refused to ever appear on-camera with her on Vanderpump Rules. Shortly after her split from Patrick this summer, Stassi talked about her rocky relationship on her podcast, according to Radar Online.
“We’ve broken up and gotten back together so many times, it was like…we can’t do this pattern anymore, this routine of breaking up and getting back together every month,'” Schroeder told her listeners in July.
“It’s not about getting rid of Patrick. It’s about getting rid of this routine. We fight all the time.”
Stassi said her breakup with Patrick was much different than her split from her Vanderpump Rules co-star Jax Taylor.
“It’s like a whole different type of thing,” Stassi revealed. “I didn’t lose any feelings for him. None of that changed. It’s just, like, I can’t handle this. Like, you don’t fit into my life. You don’t try to fit into my life enough, and we keep fighting, and I can’t handle breaking up all the time.”
Schroeder said she is trying to be an “independent, strong, 28-year-old woman who doesn’t want to settle for this weird pattern.”
Interestingly, when Stassi was still dating Patrick, her outspoken ex told ET he didn’t think she was happy in her relationship.
“I don’t think she’s happy,” Jax said of Stassi in 2014. “I think she’s really confused. I think she’s in a relationship that’s toxic right now… I hope she figures it out soon because she’s doing a lot of damage.”
But Stassi Schroeder has been clear that she still has feelings for Meagher and that he is a “wonderful man.” It sounds like they just weren’t wonderful together.
“He’s a wonderful man,” Schroeder clarified on her podcast. “Nobody would be settling by being with him. It’s settling for the way that we are together. I can’t settle for that.”
While Stassi Schroeder and Patrick Meagher are done for now, the Straight Up With Stassi host says she doesn’t know what the future holds when it comes to her ex-boyfriend.
“Five years from now, 10 years from now, if we came back into each other’s lives [maybe]… but I’m using my head about the situation,” Schroeder told ET of a future with Meagher.
