Kobe Bryant Welcomes Third Child: Retired Athlete On Diaper Duty?

Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa just welcomed their third child into the world. The married couple of 15 years had a beautiful baby girl.

E! News confirmed that Kobe Bryant’s wife of 15 years, Vanessa, has given birth to the couple’s third daughter. This makes five for the Bryant family. Vanessa and Kobe are already parents to two daughters, Natalia Diamante Bryant, 13, and Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant, 10.

The couple announced their pregnancy on social media back in July. The mother-of-three and the athlete both shared a post on their Instagram accounts.

“Beyond blessed and excited to share that we are expecting our third baby girl!!! #blessed #babymamba #thankful.”

The news of the Bryants’ third baby came at the right time for the family. Just a few months earlier, Kobe Bryant played his final game in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant hit the court for the last time at the Staples Center in April. The long-time professional athlete announced his retirement last November.

Kobe played for the L.A. Lakers for 20 seasons and is ranked third on the NBA’s all-time points leaders list.

After his final game, the athlete tweeted out to his fans to thank them for their support.

“Last night was the final chapter to an incredible story. I walk away at peace knowing my love for the game & this city will never be broken.”

This will be the first child Bryant will raise without playing for the NBA. Fortunately for the Bryants, Kobe will be able to spend more time with his growing family.

Many have questioned whether Kobe Bryant’s sneaker legacy will continue after his retirement. According to Sole Collector, Bryant plans on staying in the sneaker game even though he is out of the basketball game.

“We’ll remain extremely consistent with what we’ve been doing, which is creating innovative products that help athletes be the best versions of themselves. That’s not going to change.”

The former NBA player went on to say that there will “absolutely” be a Nike Kobe 12, 13, and so forth.

Kobe’s new sneaker line, The Nike Kobe A.D., differs from the numeric order that the line previously followed.

The A.D. stands for the Latin term anno domini which means “in the year of our Lord” and signifies the birth of Jesus Christ. However, in this case, the Nike Kobe A.D. signifies the end of Kobe Bryant the basketball player and the beginning of Kobe the sneaker brand.

This newest sneaker supposedly represents a new era of Kobe as a signature athlete, leaving the playing legacy of his shoes to current players on the court.

Kobe’s sneaker dreams are entirely feasible. After all, Michael Jordan still puts out sneakers with much success, and he’s been retired for more than a decade.

Year after year, and model after model, Kobe’s sneakers continue to be a success among Nike products. Nike’s been able to make limited-edition colorways of Kobe sneakers, have special collaborations like with Eric Koston, and release versions of the sneaker during international fashion week, according to Complex.

Maintaining his extremely hands-on approach to product design will help him to continue to have successful sneaker lines. Hopefully, the retired athlete’s hands won’t be too full of dirty diapers to continue with the sneakers.

Congratulations to the new family of five!
