11-year-old in Alabama fakes kidnapping because of bad report card
An 11-year-old boy in Alabama briefly duped police and his family in a kidnapping hoax.
The boy, who has not been named, hatched the plan to avoid presenting his family with a bad report card. It must have been pretty awful, because he came home with a story about being abducted by a man with a gun in a “beat up car,” who threatened to kill him.
The kid claimed he managed to escape unharmed, but the evil fake kidnapper managed to hold on to his bookbag. Police suspected the story was fake in large part because the boy managed to leave with his band instrument, but not the bookbag that held the bad report card.
The boy later ran to his grandparents and confessed to lying about the kidnapping. His grandparents called police to apologize, and the child has not been charged with any crime.
