Real Housewives In Debt: Who Are The Poorest Bravo ‘Housewives’ Ever?

The Real Housewives on Bravo may look like they are living luxurious lives on television, but a lot of these ladies are either currently or were once in some serious debt. Which of the women on the Real Housewives franchise struggled with money?

Radar Online revealed which of the Real Housewives were in some serious debt, declared bankruptcy or even committed fraud.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice infamously served an 11-month prison sentence for conspiracy to commit mail fraud, making false statements on loan applications, and bankruptcy fraud.

The Bravo star claimed that she had signed a bunch of papers that her husband had given her over the years without looking over the details. The result? Jail time for Teresa. Her husband Joe Giudice is currently serving his much longer, 41-month prison sentence at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution.

It is possible that Joe Giudice may even be deported back to Italy after he serves his sentence. Real Housewives of Italy anyone?

Shortly after the housewife was released from federal prison, Teresa was slammed with a federal tax lien for $219,804.38.

Giudice’s $13.5 million bankruptcy case was just settled earlier this month.

Fellow Real Housewives of New Jersey castmate Danielle Staub filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2012. Her case was discharged in 2014.

These New Jersey housewives really need to get a handle on their finances!

RHONJ star Jacqueline Laurita and her husband owe $338,337.05 in state taxes. Chris Laurita had to file for bankruptcy on behalf of one of his companies.

New cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills franchise Dorit Kemsley’s husband Paul filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy in 2012. Kemsley claimed to be $10 million to $50 million in debt.

The United States Bankruptcy Court Southern District of New York denied his petition for recognition in 2013. His attempt to reopen the case later that month was also denied.

Another RHOBH newbie Eden Sassoon revealed in her divorce filings that she owed money to Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, J. Crew, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.

It seems like these housewives are living well above their means.

Jules Wainstein recently experienced her first season on The Real Housewives of New York, but before she was a housewife she was in some serious debt.

Wainstein filed for bankruptcy under her maiden name, claiming that she had no savings and owed over 22,000 to creditors.

After her debut on the Bravo reality series, Jules and her husband Michael announced they would be divorcing.

Michael Wainstein is now claiming that his estranged wife Jules spent way too much money to afford her lifestyle on the RHONY.

Fellow Real Housewives of New York star Sonya Morgan was once famously married to a descendant of J.P. Morgan, John Adams Morgan. This housewife was used to a life of luxury before her divorce.

The Real Housewife briefly discussed her bankruptcy filing on the Bravo reality series before scoring a deal to help her pay off her debts.

Former RHONY cast member Cindy Barshop was hit was a federal tax lien for $142,300.36 just last month.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes may not exactly be the “rich b*tch” she claims to be. The reality star filed for bankruptcy in March of 1996 before marrying Gregg Leakes. The reality star apparently still owes over $1 million in taxes.

Leakes former castmate on RHOA Kim Fields also had some money struggles she attempted to keep a secret.

The Facts of Life star was slammed with a federal tax lien for over $212,000 just before joining the Atlanta franchise.

Real Housewives of Orange County former cast member Lynne Curtin famously got evicted on the reality series. Cameras captured the embarrassing moment when Curtin’s daughters answered the door to receive the shocking eviction notice.

Lynne Curtin claimed to have no knowledge of her family’s money problems, later filing for divorce from her husband Frank Curtin, claiming in 2013 that she only had $100 to her name.

Fellow former RHOC star Peggy Tanous filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after leaving the Bravo show. Tanous and her husband apparently missed at least 75 mortgage payments.

It may look like these Real Housewives live a life of luxury and comfort, but obviously, there is more to their complicated lives than meets the eye. Although these housewives attempt to keep their money struggles out of the media, many of them have been exposed to living above their means.
