NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns To Field Trade Overtures For Brandon Knight

Phoenix Suns’ guard Brandon Knight could be on the move in the next few weeks. If the NBA trade rumors are accurate, the Suns are reportedly going to gauge the market for the speedy combo guard. It may take a couple of weeks before anything is set, but the Suns are all but assured to shop him.

It would behoove the Suns to find out what they can get for Brandon Knight. It is also important for them to see which NBA teams would be interested in acquiring Knight. There could be a bidding war for Knight if the NBA trade rumors are true about his availability.

ESPN’s Marc Stein is suggesting that the Phoenix Suns may look to determine Brandon Knight’s trade value soon. Suns’ general manager Ryan McDonough has denied the notion that Knight will be made available to other teams just yet. Marc Stein offered some thoughts on the Suns and what they may do with Knight.

“Suns general manager Ryan McDonough recently went on the Burns & Gambo radio show in Phoenix and proclaimed (A) that he isn’t actively trying to trade Knight and (B) that he’d prefer to take at least two months to evaluate his team before seriously considering trades. None of that, however, has stopped interested rivals from believing that the struggling Knight — who started two games this week with TJ Warren out but mostly comes off the bench for the Suns — will be made available.”

There is a strong belief that the Phoenix Suns will move Brandon Knight if they can get a good player in return. Adding a young veteran post player should be atop of their list.

If that were to hold true, the Suns could reach out to the Philadelphia 76ers regarding power forward Nerlens Noel. According to The Sixers Sense, Noel is the frontcourt player the 76ers will move if a trade is made.

There are few doable NBA trades that could happen which makes more sense than a Brandon Knight and Nerlens Noel swap. The Suns need a younger version of Tyson Chandler. The 76ers are in need of a point guard and scorer. There is a match that could be had if both teams wanted something to happen.

While the Suns did add a couple of post players in the NBA draft in Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender, they both are a year or two away from being able to contribute. Adding Noel to the mix would give the Suns an immediate starter. One who can pair up with Alex Len as a duo of rim protectors. Noel showed flashes of an offensive game last season. He is the odd man out in Philadelphia.

A similiar situation is taking place with the Phoenix Suns.

Brandon Knight has played primarily in a reserve role this season. He has struggled thus far. The struggles are not exclusive to this season, Knight has had trouble since he was traded to the Suns. Not only is Brandon Knight the odd man out in Phoenix, he has never fit with the Suns’ offense.

Knight needs to have the basketball in his hands to be effective. The Suns already have Eric Bledsoe in place. Plus, Devin Booker also handles the basketball. The Suns’ use for Knight is minimal these days. They would be better off looking to get something for him in a trade.

Look for things to heat up with the Phoenix Suns and a potential Brandon Knight trade in the weeks to come. December 15 is when players who signed deals in last summer’s free agency bonanza can be traded. That will open up some additional options for the Phoenix Suns if the NBA trade rumors are true regarding the Suns making Brandon Knight available.
