Conor McGregor And WWE? His Agent Has Confirmed He’s Interested In Pairing Up [Video]

For months, rumors have been swirling that UFC golden boy Conor McGregor could be coming to the WWE. The whole thing started with some serious smack talking a couple of months ago; that’s when Conor McGregor publicly called out virtually the entire WWE organization as a whole, then followed up his trash talking by individually insulting some of the organization’s biggest stars.

As Rolling Stone reports, Conor McGregor’s WWE insults included labeling the entire wrestling organization a bunch of “messed up p*****s.” He followed that gem up by calling WWE’s John Cena a “big, fat 40-year-old failed Mr. Olympia motherf***er.” As Heavy reports, Conor McGregor followed up his insult with an even bigger insult.

Not surprisingly, some of the WWE’s biggest names didn’t take the insults to themselves and their profession lightly, and a whole slew of some of the biggest names in wrestling called out McGregor on social media.

In an August conference call, Conor McGregor doubled down on his disconnect with the WWE by saying that he had “no interest” in getting involved in pro wrestling. It appears, however, that the August exchange got some wheels spinning. Further, it sounds like the mouthy, pint-sized MMA fighter may have changed his tune, at least according to his agent.

During a recent ESPN podcast, Conor McGregor’s agent, Audie Attar, indicated that McGregor is more than interested in entering into a “business” deal with the WWE. Attar insinuated that whatever is decided, it could all be about the money, and if the WWE is ready to talk brass, they just need to give McGregor’s agent a call or drop him a line to grease the wheels.

“I think it’s all about business, man. If [WWE] is going to come with an offer, we are willing to entertain it. We are here. Have their people call his people – which is me. We can have a conversation.”

While a lot of WWE fans didn’t seem to put too much stock in Conor McGregor’s tough talk, other than to take it on the chin and root for their favorite wrestlers to give back better than they’d gotten, it looks like the tiny Irish fighter’s habit of slinging insults might make him a perfect fit for a WWE appearance. Just a week ago, Dave Meltzer added more fuel to the fire by confirming that Conor McGregor has been “very much” on the organization’s radar since he ran his mouth about some of the WWE’s biggest names.

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to fans of Conor McGregor and/or the WWE that the big talking little tough guy. Rolling Stone spoke out about the perfection of the match-up not long after the trash-talking back and forth between McGregor and WWE stars went viral.

In fact, the entertainment go-to called Conor McGregor’s smack talk “perfect,” even adding that an attitude like his is precisely what’s been missing from today’s “sanitized” version of professional wrestling. That a little dollop of McGregor might be just what the WWE needs to return pro wrestling to its glory days. Of course, when Rolling Stone said their peace, it seemed unlikely that Conor would ever “lower himself” to appear in the WWE.

After all, he certainly didn’t seem to have much respect for its fighters.

At the time that Conor McGregor was so deeply devoted to calling out the WWE, he was training for a big rematch. Namely, he was desperately hoping that he could take down Nate Diaz after a humiliating loss in UFC 196.

As The Mirror reports, McGregor was able to pull of a “W” at UFC 202, since, apparently the WWE has been looking at Conor to bring some much-needed spice to the organization, possibly because the Irish fighter loves to instigate drama, and even more, loves to be the bad guy.

So far, nothing’s set in stone, but with both the WWE and Conor McGregor seemingly interested in a partnership, it could amount to virtually anything. It could be as small as McGregor just showing up and cutting a program, like Ronda Rousey, maybe he’ll end up fighting a match or two, and maybe (just maybe) he’ll be in the ring for next April’s WrestleMania 33. At this point, it’s anybody’s guess.

The important thing for fans of Conor McGregor and/or WWE wrestling is that it looks like he might have the chance to put his money where his mouth is; the world might even find out if Conor McGregor really can “slap the head off ” the WWE’s entire roster.
