Isobel Gray is excited about the upcoming holidays. Her favorite holiday of the year is Christmas, and she plans to do everything possible to enjoy this season of jolly. When she locates a box filled with trinkets and memos from her childhood, she discovers an old list of things that she wanted to do for Christmas as a child.

Now, she plans on doing all of them and creating the most wonderful and perfect Christmas imaginable. It will be especially delightful to spend it with her one true love, Brett Bishop, who also happens to be Isobel’s boss. A talented fashion designer, Isobel has a natural zest for life. Unlike Brett, who doesn’t seem particularly excited to go on this trip. And when he is called away to a business meeting for the company, he opts out of the Christmas vacation, leaving Isobel to go alone.

Isobel refuses to cancel her dream Christmas vacation just because Brett chooses business first as usual. With her bags packed, Isobel heads off to the charming town of Falls River, Oregon, where she stays in a snow-capped cottage that is nestled in a beautifully decorated and picturesque town. It looks just l= which matches the picture in her head.

She’s also determined to by a real Christmas tree at the local lot, where she meets Jamie Houghton, a handsome contractor who volunteers as a fireman in his spare time. After learning about her Christmas bucket list, Jamie tries to help her complete as many of the “to do’s” as possible. The bucket list includes singing Christmas carols, ice skating, buying a real Christmas tree, and taking a picture with Santa.

Through her contact with Jamie, she learns how to let herself go without planning every detail. Soon a new romance starts to heat up just as Brett finally makes it into town.

However, when it appears that Brett is less than happy to be in Falls River, Isobel realizes for the first time that there is a total disconnect between what she desires and what Brett ultimately wants.
