Mariah Carey, James Packer Split: Prenup Treated Carey ‘Like A Gold Digger’

Mariah Carey is a “gold digger,” according to Page Six. Or at least that’s what her ex-fiancé James Packer thought of her. The two are currently going through a headline-making breakup with new details emerging almost every day.

Apparently, James Packer is not all Mariah Carey wants for Christmas! With less than two months until Christmas, the two went separate ways after the 47-year-old singer was treated by Packer’s business managers like a “gold digger.”

The prenup negotiations for a wedding between Mariah Carey and Packer came crashing down after the parties couldn’t negotiate a prenup that would satisfy them both. Carey’s team accused Packer’s team of treating the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer like a “gold digger.” The revelations leaked by TMZ are quite fascinating. Mariah Carey was offered $1 million a year for each full year of marriage with Packer, but her team refused to make a deal, explaining that this is “insulting.”

“Mariah earns that in 45 minutes for a private performance. This is insulting!”

Then the billionaire’s team offered Mariah Carey a whopping $6 million per year up to a maximum of $30 million. According to the document, the “Without You” singer would also get a credit card, but she wouldn’t be able to use it for buying clothes.

The credit card would permit Mariah Carey to use it for living and staff expenses, while there would be a limited amount of money each year of their marriage. Packer’s team also specified that the “We Belong Together” singer and her kids wouldn’t inherit any money from the billionaire.

Mariah Carey would, however, still be allowed to use one of his private jets. She would even be able to use it for her staff, her kids (Carey has fraternal twins from her previous marriage with Nick Cannon) and nannies. But no more private jets for Carey though!

“It shall not be appropriate to provide a second airplane for Mariah’s use, or the use of her children.”

The document also freed Packer from having any obligations to provide clothing for Mariah Carey. But if he wants to, he could still make gifts of clothing, of course. However, the document continued that gifts for their engagement, wedding, birthdays, and anniversaries costing more than $250,000 wouldn’t be considered gifts.

“…unless accompanied by, or promptly followed by, a writing specifically stating, ‘This is my gift to you.'”

According to a source cited by Page Six, the prenup negotiations are what ended Mariah Carey’s seemingly happy relationship with Packer.

“This caused a lot of tension. Her camp said they were treating Mariah like a gold digger, while she thought she was marrying the man of her dreams.”

According to an email sent from Packer’s computer and exclusively obtained by TMZ, Mariah Carey’s fiancé expressed his frustration over their prenup differences. The billionaire warned his team to do as he says or “f*** off” (which could suggest he would fire them).

“The people who work for me – do as I say or f*** off. I want to get married on March 1. James.”

Reps for Packer, however, denied that such a prenup was ever negotiated and dismissed the reports as “grossly inaccurate and completely untrue.” Reps for Mariah Carey, meanwhile, have remained silent on the issue.

Other reports suggest that Scientology is to blame for Mariah Carey and Packer’s headline-making breakup, according to the Daily Mail. It was also the singer’s refusal to attend Packer’s sister’s 50th birthday celebrations last month that created tensions.

In late October, Mariah Carey said her relationship with Packer was “poisoned” by the billionaire’s business manager Tommy Davis, who was, by the way, the Scientology church’s official spokesman. Packer himself was a Scientologist for four years in 2006.

Kate Fischer is a name unfamiliar to most people, but 18 years ago she was poised to become Mrs. James Packer. Yahoo reports that Fischer, who has since changed her name to Tziporah Atarah Malkah, penned an open letter to Mariah Carey which has since been published in Australia’s New Idea magazine.

In the letter, she gave the “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer some unsolicited advice on how to win Packer back.

“My advice to you is, if you really want him back, play the game, let him make the key decisions and you may well live happily ever after as Mariah Carey Packer… If you want to get him back and he’s having a sulk, just wait a few days and get in touch.”
