McDonalds Unveils A Nutella Burger, This Is Not A Joke

Yes, you heard it right, McDonalds is launching a Nutella burger. At this point, it is only available in Italy as the “Sweety con Nutella,” but it could be headed to a McDonalds near you. And the Nutella burger is not the only special selection offered overseas.

Outside of the United States, Krispy Kreme is also offering a flavor which sounds like in would be a no-brainer at American locations according to the Inquisitr. The Peanut Butter Cup doughnut is a big deal in Australia, and it is considered an “international, limited edition doughnut,” that is still not being offered in the U.S. But as part of the international offerings, in the United States, flavors like Crème Brûleé, Tiramisu, and Churro will be offered in America.

But luckily the Sweety con Nutella does not have the traditional all-beef patty as traditional burgers in the United States, according to Jezebel, but rather two sweetened brioche style buns with a heap of Nutella in the middle. This sounds more like a pastry in the U.S. than a burger, or perhaps a fancy peanut butter sandwich, but when in Rome…

The sandwich is reportedly quite heavy, in feel and in one’s stomach. It’s unclear what time of day it is served, but it sounds like it would be better with coffee or tea, or perhaps if you are in Italy, espresso. But Jezebel hopes that Italy enjoys their Nutella burger.

“Enjoy your melted candy sandwiches, Italians.”

Eater explains that the Sweety con Nutella is meant to look like a burger, with the brown stripe on the outside of the bun that makes it look like a hamburger. Eater gave the “burger” a review.

“Because nothing in this world is sacred — especially not fast food — McDonald’s unleashed its latest unholy experiment in processed calorie engineering on Italy this week. This time instead of drizzling carbohydrates with milk chocolate, the fast food giant is piping sliced bread full of chocolate-hazelnut spread to create what is essentially a Nutella burger.”

The Sweety con Nutella got over 60k shares as soon as it was announced, and Nutella freaks have come out of the woodwork. Nutella is popular in the United States, but it seems to be a real favorite in Europe, where you can reportedly get personalized jars and locks for your jar of Nutella.

Delish says that McDonalds is offering some interesting things in its U.K. outlets too, which is making McDonalds sound more like Taco Bell. Fries are being topped with guacamole, and Big Macs are being doubled, and called Giga Macs. But the newest is the Spicy Nacho Cheese Wedges, which are hunks of nacho-like cheese that have been laced with jalapeños and rolled in crushed tortilla chips, Brand Eating stated. They also come with a side of sour cream and chive dip. Each order includes four.

And NewsMax says that there will be different offerings in the United States in 2017, including two new sizes of Big Mac. First there will be the Big Mac Jr., and then the Grand Mac, which will have another layer of well, Mac, with garlic and onions. A representative for McDonalds says that they are trying to expand the menu with some of the overseas items.

“We view the new tests… as a sign of the company’s evolving willingness to have no ‘untouchables’ on the menu. We look forward to some of the French fry line extensions we’ve seen overseas (such as McDonald’s Australia’s Loaded Fries) perhaps being tested stateside one day, if we’re fortunate.”
