Kelly Ripa Co-Host: Megyn Kelly Helps ‘Live’ Revive Ratings, Will She Replace Strahan?

Has Kelly Ripa found her new Live co-host? Fox News personality and political commentator Megyn Kelly sat in with Ripa as her guest co-host last week for Wednesday’s Live with Kelly broadcast, the morning after Tuesday’s highly charged, late-night presidential election results. As it is now reported, the show gave Ripa her highest ratings for a Live with Kelly episode since former co-host Michael Strahan left Live back in May.

As Live viewers are aware, Kelly Ripa’s co-host quest has been in full-swing since Strahan exited the famous morning program on May 13. Could Megyn Kelly possibly be keen to take on co-hosting duties beside Ripa for the long term? Would Ripa be comfortable hosting the show along with another woman co-host? Only time will tell, as Ripa and her Live crew continue on with various celebrity co-host guests on Live with Kelly.

As reported by Mediaite, Kelly Ripa and co-host Megyn Kelly’s post-Election Day Live episode brought the reigning morning queen her biggest TV ratings boost on Live with Kelly since Strahan’s departure. Per the figures disclosed by Mediaite, Ripa even beat out fellow talk show hosts like Dr. Phil McGraw and Ellen DeGeneres.

“Wednesday’s episode pulled in a 3.5 rating overall and a 1.7 among women aged 25-54, placing it in the #1 spot for syndicated programs, ahead of other talk shows like Dr. Phil and Ellen.”

However, as mentioned, Ripa has hit such numbers before — albeit when her former Live co-host (and current Good Morning America paramour) Michael Strahan was by her side. As reported by The Wrap, Ripa’s Wednesday episode with co-host Megyn Kelly beat out any previous Live with Kelly broadcast for the past six months.

“The last time the show hit such a high mark was Friday, May 13 — Strahan’s final show.”

The Kelly Ripa co-host search remains a hotly-debated topic among Live with Kelly fans. While frequent viewers certainly have their favorite frequent co-host guests (such as Ripa’s friends Jerry O’Connell, Anderson Cooper, and Fred Savage), other Live fans feel Ripa may never again find a co-host as suitable as Strahan. Ripa has now been co-host-less for almost half-a-year. Do you think Ripa will ever settle on a new, permanent co-host?

As previously reported at the Inquisitr, Megyn Kelly’s appearance on last week’s Live with Kelly show was quite the anticipated TV event, especially following last Tuesday’s late-night election results and Megyn’s recently revealed sexual harassment allegations against her former boss and one-time Fox News Channel CEO, Roger Ailes. Reportedly, Megyn’s upcoming new book, Settle for More, will shed further light on those allegations.

The New York Times recently published selected excerpts in their book review of Megyn’s Settle for More, which comes out on Nov. 15. As expected, the tome apparently delves into Megyn’s campaign dealings with Donald Trump, president-elect of the United States. In addition to Megyn’s characterization of Trump’s bizarre behavior on the night of the first presidential debate, she also outlines Trump’s attempts to sway media reports with handouts.

“This is actually one of the untold stories of the 2016 campaign. I was not the only journalist to whom Trump offered gifts clearly meant to shape coverage. Many reporters have told me that Trump worked hard to offer them something fabulous — from hotel rooms to rides on his 757.”

Do you think Megyn Kelly should be Kelly Ripa’s co-host on Live with Kelly? Are you still rooting for Fred Savage or Jerry O’Connell as co-host? Do you think Megyn’s new book will blow the lid of the Roger Ailes sexual harassment scandal and Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
