Authorities say three people were killed in a shooting Tuesday that happened after a domestic dispute turned deadly at an apartment complex in Northwestern Ohio.
According to Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer, 24-year-old Jorge Duran, Jr., of Toledo, shot five people in two apartments Tuesday night before coming outside and firing on officers. Two officers then returned fire and killed him.
“The officers engaged with what was believed to be the suspect, shot and killed the suspect who was already wounded,” Chief Hummer told the Toledo Blade.
Prior to his death, Duran shot and killed Amber Jones, 26, and her three-year-old son, Jorge Duran III. Three other people shot in the apartments were hospitalized in serious condition.
WTVG-TV notes the first 911 call came in at 9:34 pm Tuesday night from a neighbor who indicated there were multiple victims. A second 911 call was made from one of the victims, police said.
Police did not release the names or any other information about the three victims who were shot but survived.
