TweetDeck adds MySpace support

TweetDeck has become the first Twitter client to extend into teen territory with the launch of a new version that supports MySpace.

The new version of TweetDeck (not available at the time of writing, but due to launch September 9) adds MySpace support, increases Facebook support, and adds the TweetDeck Directory, a catalog of Twitter accounts worth following according to VentureBeat. The TweetDeck Directory is said to be a catalog of popular Internet topics: Music, Travel, Jobs, Sports, News, Tech, and others.

CEO and founder Ian Dodsworth told VentureBeat “I put Tweetdeck out to solve my problems with Twitter. Not to start a business, or for the greater good, but for myself.” Dodsworth went on to say that he considers TweetDeck a browser now that taps in to the best parts of the social web.

TweetDeck has taken $2.3 million over two rounds that included Beta Works and The Accelerator Group. Despite coming late to the party, TweetDeck is now the most popular, or second most popular (depending on the stats you believe) Twitter client on the market.
