Erica Garner: Eric Garner’s Daughter Scolds Clinton Campaign For Politicizing Her Father’s Death

Erica Garner tweeted out her dissatisfaction today with the Hillary Clinton campaign for apparently trying to use her father’s death for political advantage, particularly in connection with the Democratic presidential nominee’s gun control push.

This revelation — assuming the records are validated — of the Clinton campaign’s discussion about the Eric Garner case appears to be part of the ongoing WikiLeaks dump from Clinton campaign chair John Podesta’s hacked email account.

Gateway Pundit is maintaining an archive of all of the Podesta emails.

“Garner accused the campaign of attempting to exploit and manipulate the death of her father for Clinton’s benefit, and demanded answers from the staffers,” Business Insider explained about the tweets.

On July 17, 2014, Eric Garner, an unarmed black man, died in a police chokehold in Staten Island, New York. The following December, a local grand jury declined to indict the officer involved, but he apparently may face federal civil rights charges. Garner was being arrested for selling loosies, i.e., individual cigarettes, which is illegal in NYC, and allegedly was non-complaint. The city and the Garner family entered into a civil settlement in July 2015.

“Garner, who said ‘I can’t breathe’ several times as [the officer] applied the hold, died a short time later. The incident was caught on video and became a flashpoint in the Black Lives Matter movement,” Newsmax recalled.

In one of Erica Garner’s tweets, she publicly declared that “I’m troubled by the revelation that you and this campaign actually discussed ‘using’ Eric Garner … Why would you want to ‘use’ my dad?”

The context of the tweetstorm seems to be that Clinton staffers were debating whether to include a mention of Eric Garner in the text of an op-ed about gun control that was eventually published on March 27, 2016, in the New York Daily News.

“The alleged email sent by Clinton traveling press secretary Nick Merrill was in regard to a Hillary Clinton gun violence op-ed from March. The Clinton campaign has neither confirmed nor denied the legitimacy of the email,” SLive noted.

“‘I know we have Erica Garner issues but we don’t want to mention Erica at all? I can see her coming after us for leaving him out of the piece,” campaign spokesman Nick Merrill wrote in March, as the campaign was the op-ed to run in The Daily News,” the New York Post chronicled about the Team Clinton’s internal debate over the drafting of the editorial.

In the hacked email thread, evidently another Clinton staffer points out that Eric Garner was not a victim of gun violence, a correction which his daughter called attention to on Twitter in strong language.

Erica Garner supported Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in his unsuccessful Democratic primary contest against eventual nominee Hillary Clinton and now apparently backs Green Party candidate Jill Stein in the general election.

“A spokesman for the Clinton campaign did not immediately respond to questions about Garner’s latest tweets,” the Daily News detailed.

In December 2014, as the Inquisitr previously reported, Erica Garner rejected the notion that the death of her father was racially motivated, suggesting instead it’s not a “black and white issue” but rather an issue of “pride” or ego for the arresting officer.

The New York Post separately claims that a long-awaited indictment in the Eric Garner case appears to be imminent.

“Washington-based federal prosecutors plan to aggressively pursue charges against NYPD cop Daniel Pantaleo for the chokehold death of Eric Garner on Staten Island, a law enforcement source told The Post on [October 25]… Federal investigators in Brooklyn were replaced by DC counterparts because of their reluctance to bring charges, the source said.”
