‘Jihad Jane’: Colleen LaRose Faces Life In Prison For Murder Plot

Colleen LaRose, better known as Jihad Jane, faces life in prison in December for a plot to kill a Swedish artist who offended Muslims. LaRose, who is from Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, has been in custody since she returned from Ireland and surrendered to the FBI in 2009.

Jihad Jane’s arrest was kept a secret until several others were rounded up month later, including a Maryland teenager who has also been charged in the plot, reports ABC News.

The 48-year-old woman called herself Jihad Jane in an online video and stated that she was “desperate” to help Muslims. The woman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder a foreign target, and also supporting terrorists and lying to the FBI.

The murder plot, which included Jihad Jane and other people, was not carried out. Prosecutors stated on Monday that Colleen LaRose will be sentenced on December 19 in Philadelphia.

CBS Local notes that Jamie Paulin-Ramirez of Leadville, Colorado, as well as 18-year-old Mohammad Hasan Khalid, will be sentenced on November 30 The two, who were both involved in the murder plot, face up to 15 years each for providing material aid to the terror cell, which was based in Ireland.

Paulin-Ramirez married a terror suspect in Ireland, while Khalid agreed to deliver a passport. Colleen LaRose, or Jihad Jane, was set to be sentenced this month. There is no information on why her sentencing has been delayed.

A lawyer for LaRose has not returned any requests for comment at this time.
