Romney Bails On ‘The View’ Appearance

Mitt Romney has decided to cancel his upcoming appearance on The View, Yahoo! News is reporting. The presidential hopeful was to sit down for a chat alongside his wife Ann, that is, until he decided to bail on the show at the last second.

Although Romney has decided to back out of his scheduled interview on the aforementioned chat show, Ann Romney is still slated to appear. The reasons for the candidate’s cancellation might be found in the infamous leaked video footage, a clip which finds Romney declaring an appearance on The View to be extremely high risk.

“Governor Romney was supposed to be on with us this Thursday with Ann Romney,” Barbara Walters said at the end of Monday’s episode. “Over the weekend, his people said that he had scheduling problems and would not be coming on with us. Nor at this point did he feel that he could reschedule. We are happy to have Mrs. Romney on with us. He can change his mind, and we hope he does. It would be our pleasure to have him on the program.”

According to the Washington Post, Romney’s reluctance to appear on the show could have something to do with the hosts, only one of whom is a conservative. However, Mitt did mention Whoopi Goldberg by name, a fact that didn’t settle too well with the seasoned comedienne.

” ‘The View’ is fine, although ‘The View’ is high-risk, because of the five women on it, only one [Elisabeth Hasselbeck] is conservative and four are sharp-tongued and not conservative, Whoopi Goldberg in particular. Although last time I was on the show, she said to me, ‘You know what? I think I could vote for you.’ And I said I must’ve done something really wrong,” Romney explained.
