Shah Rukh Khan recently came out and addressed some of the rumors that have dogged his career in an interview with Cosmopolitan India. Although he’s one of the world’s most beloved Hindi film stars, SRK has faced his fair share of scandals in his past. Here are the top 5 controversies that shook King Khan’s Bollywood throne.
Abram Khan Surrogacy And Sex Determination Case
Shah Rukh Khan’s youngest son was born prematurely via a surrogate mother. Around the time of his birth, there were rumors that SRK and Guari Khan, his wife, had done a prenatal sex determination test. These tests are banned in India because of a cultural predilection to favor boys over girls. According to The India Express, Mumbai officials even went to the Khans’ residence to investigate the claims. The team was turned away.
“I did not like that fact when the media spoke about the surrogacy. I hate it,” SRK said in an interview with The Indian Express. “They said I had sex determination test, which was rubbish. I am too educated to be indulging in this non-sense. He was suffering… He was ill, and people were talking about sex determination just because he is the child of a famous movie star.”
Shah Rukh added that he’s not happy with people in the media talking about his son, Abram Khan, at all.
“I am not overtly happy talking about him. He is my baby and nobody else’s. You can come home and see him if I allow you to come in my house,” he said.
“He (Abram) is not meant for flashbulbs. I don’t want him to be a participant in this circus of public life that Iam a part of. That is what I do… Public life… The good, bad, ugly, goodness of media, the strangeness… I am part of it, not my children,” the 50-year-old actor said.

Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra starred in the Bollywood movie Don together. Since then, their onscreen and offscreen chemistry have led many to believe that they could be having an affair.

As Bollywood Life notes, neither Khan nor Chopra have ever denied or admitted that they had an affair. But they have admitted that they are “friends.”
The rumors obviously haven’t hurt Priyanka’s career as she’s now the star of ABC’s Quantico.
Shah Rukh Khan Wankede Stadium Ban
As the Indian Express notes, SRK was once banned from Wankede Stadium after he got into a fight with security officials during a game featuring his team, Kolkata Knight Riders.
“He misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match,” said Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Nitin Dalal said at the time.
The ban has since been lifted by The Mumbai Cricket Association.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Detained In The United States (Again)
Despite his worldwide fame and prestige, SRK has been detained by US Immigration more than once. The most recent detainment happened at LAX in August this year, Variety reported.
“I fully respect & understand security, with the way the world is, but to be detained by US immigration every damned time really really sucks” Shah Rukh said about the situation on Twitter.
The Raees actor later received an apology from the U.S. Ambassador to India.
“Sorry for the trouble at LAX @Iamsrk. We are working to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Your work inspires millions, including in the U.S,” the ambassador tweeted.
