‘Jane The Virgin’ Season 3: Michael Confirmed Dead In ‘Devastating’ & ‘Emotional’ Episode?

Jane The Virgin is set to return to The CW for Season 3 on September 17, but will it be with or without Michael (Brett Dier)?

As Jane The Virgin fans saw in the Season 2 finale, Michael was shot in cold blood by evil drug dealer Sin Rostro just hours after marrying Jane (Gina Rodriguez), leaving fans wondering if Michael will live or die in Season 3.

But was it just confirmed that Michael isn’t going to survive the shooting?

Speaking out about what’s ahead in Season 3 of Jane The Virgin in a new interview with TV Line, executive producer Jennie Urman could have accidentally let slip that Michael is dead when revealing what’s ahead in the coming episodes.

Urman revealed in the interview that the Season 3 opener of Jane The Virgin, titled “Chapter Forty-Five,” will be “devastating” and “very emotional” while confirming that the question of Michael’s death and finding out if he’s dead or alive after the shooting will be “a central question” during the premiere.

“We learn a lot of unexpected things about the beginning of their relationship,” the Jane The Virgin executive producer continued to the site of Jane and Michael. “[Jane’s] trying to get through the trauma and find out if [Michael’s] going to live or die.”

The Jane The Virgin executive producer then went on to confirm that Jane will finally lose her virginity in the coming episodes, but hinted that her first time isn’t necessarily going to be with Michael after their wedding.

“Over the course of the season, she’s going to end up losing her virginity,” Jennie confirmed to TV Line, but appeared to hint that Michael may in fact be dead by admitting that Jane losing her virginity may not happen “in the way that she expected.”

“Because of certain events that happen, Jane has this letting go of the fairy-tale version of what she thought her life was going to look like and accepting of what it does look like,” the Jane The Virgin executive producer then continued, suggesting that those “certain events” could suggest Michael may be dead.

“That challenges her in really interesting and important ways,” she added.

While those behind-the-scenes haven’t given too much more away when it comes to if Michael is dead or alive ahead of the Season 3 premiere, TV Guide noted that Jane The Virgin may have already given away a pretty big spoiler when it comes to Michael potentially being dead in earlier episodes.

As the site noted, back in the episode “Chapter Ten,” Michael made it clear after Jane began to grow close to Rafael (Justin Baldoni), that he was “not just going to give up on us.”

“We belong together, and I’ll never stop believing that,” Michael said on the comedy/drama, while the show’s infamous voiceover then added, “And for as long as Michael lived, until he drew his very last breath, he never did,” suggesting that Michael could now be dead after marrying Jane.

But while a number of signs appear to suggest that Michael is dead following his encounter with Sin Rostro, other hints appear to suggest that Michael could pull through and return to Jane’s side.

Jane The Virgin’s cast and crew may have let slip that Michael is alive and well after Brett popped up in a number of photos shared from the set.

Andrea Navedo, who play’s Jane’s mom Xo, shared a snap from the first Jane The Virgin table read of Season 3 back in August where she could be seen sitting alongside both Brett and Justin, suggesting that Brett had at least a few lines in the first episode to warrant him attending the show’s table read.

Dier has also posted a number of snaps and videos from the Jane The Virgin set, including a short video six weeks ago that showed himself with Justin on the set of Jane’s house, suggesting that Michael may not be dead after all.

Jane The Virgin Season 3 is set to premiere on October 17 on The CW.
