NCsoft Releases Game Update 3.5: ‘Tiamat’s Ruin’ For ‘Aion: Ascension’

Continuing the remarkable comeback since converting from a subscription based game to a free to play game, NCsoft introduced game update 3.5, Tiamat’s Ruin, for their fantasy based MMORPG, Aion: Ascension. The update will introduce a new era to the dynamic world of Atreia as the Dragon Lord Tiamat tries to dominate or destroy everything that stands in her way.

NCsoft, the game’s publisher, released the following official description of Tiamat’s Ruin:

Tiamat’s Ruin – The Story

“The war was changing. For a brief moment, everything seemed to be falling into place: the Daevas gained a new ally in Kahrun and the Reian people, Kahrun had successfully enforced a hesitant peace between the Elyos and Asmodians, and Tiamat’s army, once thought unstoppable, was losing ground.

“But ancient rivalries cannot die overnight. Kahrun’s fragile peace slowly began to crumble as Daevas on both sides found areas beyond his will to continue their bitter conflict. It seemed that the fragile alliance would collapse altogether, when the Reians gained access to Tiamat Stronghold, the last bastion of the Dragon Lord. It presents a perfect opportunity to strike the final blow against their ancient enemy.

“Does Tiamat, the primal evil that has cursed the lands of Atreia for the last 3 years, have a cunning counter, or will the Daevas be able to hold onto their alliance with the Reians for long enough to destroy her? What does the mysterious reappearance of Lord Israphel, thought dead for centuries, mean for Atreia, and why does he seek to take Lady Siel’s Relics from Tiamat? This is a pivotal moment in Atreia’s history — face the Dragon Lord! Become Tiamat’s Ruin!”

The update offers players a huge helping of new content including the challenging new six person instance Tiamat Stronghold and the daunting 12 person raid, The Dragon Lord’s Refuge. Rounding out the four new instances introduced in Tiamat’s Ruin are The Third Crucible: Arena of Cooperation and The Third Crucible: Arena of Glory.

Players will also be treated to new mounts, new gear, and a herd of new pets that can be purchased in the game’s item shop. Guilds will also be receiving some love with the addition of guild level 8, guild gear, guild wings, and guild mounts.

Rounding out the many improvements to Aion: Ascension in 3.5 will be the addition of a cross-server dungeon finder. This new feature will allow you to invite players from other servers to join your six person group or 12 person raid. The dungeon finder will be especially welcome on lower population servers where finding enough people for an instance run or a raid is often a time consuming and frustrating process.

Tiamat’s Ruin is now live on Aion: Ascension servers, and players are already rejoicing over all the new and challenging adventures that have been added to the game. NCsoft made a wise decision when they switched to a free-to-play model, and they did an excellent job of revamping the game-play to suit the temperament of North American and European gamers who are not fans of Korean grind fests.

Aion: Ascension is an excellent, enjoyable MMO with superb graphics and a well developed story that invites gamers to participate in a living, breathing world. Add to the mix the ability to fly and engage in combat while in-flight, and you have a glorious game that is worth a second look.
