The first images of Scarlett Johannson, Jessica Biel, and Helen Mirren from director Sacha Gervasi’s upcoming motion picture Hitchcock have surfaced online, according to Cinema Blend. The film, which follows the love story between Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville during the filming of his iconic thriller Psycho, will enjoy a limited release in the United States on November 23 courtesy of FOX Searchlight.
Although Hitchcock is slated for release in the next month or so, a proper trailer for the flick has yet to find its way online. In order to give prospective audience members a glimpse of the stars in their respective roles, the distributor has tossed the folks at People some exclusive images of the actors in character.
“When we took that still of Scarlett behind the wheel and put it up against the still of Janet behind the wheel in ‘Psycho,’ it was eerie,” director Sacha Gervasi explained. “The extent to which Scarlett was able to channel Janet [was] a real surprise. She brought it in such a way that no one really anticipated.”
For Jessica Biel’s turn as Vera Miles, a frequent Alfred Hitchcock collaborator, Gervasi took the same approach with Biel that the legendary filmmaker did with Miles.
“Hitchcock dressed her up in a wig and did everything could to make the beautiful Vera Miles look frumpy,” he said. “What Hitch tried to do to Vera we tried to do to Jessica, and the results were equally ridiculous. It is not possible to make Jessica Biel dowdy.”
Director Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock — which will also feature the talents of Ralph Macchio, Toni Collette, Kurtwood Smith, Michael Wincott, and Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock — opens in select theaters on November 23. A wide release has yet to be scheduled as of this writing.
