Who Is Harry Styles? Why Is A One Direction Member Portraying Mick Jagger Of The Rolling Stones?

One Direction’s Harry Styles has been selected to play the role of Mick Jagger in the upcoming biopic Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones, according to Harper’s Bazaar. Styles, an accomplished actor and musician with some resemblance to Jagger, is perfect for the part.

Styles has been with One Direction for over five years. The One Direction boys initially tried out for X Factor as separate acts. Simon Cowell put Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson together as a group. Today 1D’s popularity has soared to a level unheard of for any musical group since the 1960s.

Harry Styles is generally considered the front man in what has become a virtual force of preteen and teenage girls who adore the One Direction boys. Not since the days of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones has a band gained such a huge following.

Today, millions of One Direction fans, mostly young girls, spend a lot of money on 1D albums and merchandise. They also spend a lot of time on social media promoting and reading about the band.

Mick Jagger was a legendary performer in his time and he still is. His accomplishments as a musician are extremely significant, and Styles would be the first to admit, and has said before, that One Direction is nowhere near where groups like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were musically speaking. Harry told the Independent his thoughts after watching Beatlemania.

“Stepping off the plane, the girls, the madness, it was exactly the same as when we got there – just 50 years earlier. But none of us think we’re in the same league as them music-wise. We’d be total fools if we did. Fame-wise it’s probably even bigger, but we don’t stand anywhere near them in terms of music.”

Harry Styles does want to strive for musical excellence, though. He has an overwhelming desire to earn and merit his rapid rise to fame. His admiration for classic rock is well known. He has studied the work of Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, as well as the Beatles and many others. Despite the previously enforced limitations on his boy band genre, he is determined to perfect his musical skills and contribute in a significant way.

Harry Styles’ talents are not limited to his work with One Direction. His acting debut in the Christopher Nolan film Dunkirk surprised his producers, directors, and fellow actors. They did some rewrites and expanded his role. Nolan and others from the movie Dunkirk highly recommended Harry.

Before X Factor, Styles was in a band called White Eskimo. Though the boys in White Eskimo were still in high school when Harry was discovered by X Factor, an early video shows the boys already had promise. White Eskimo has gone on without Styles to produce some very accomplished albums.

Harry Styles cut an $80 million three solo album record contract with Columbia, in which they gave him complete artistic freedom. Harry is currently working on his debut album to showcase his talents as a musician outside of One Direction’s boy band genre. He has sought out advice from many great names in music, including Paul McCartney and Ringo Star, as well as Elton John who offered to help as much as Styles wanted. He’s also gotten assistance from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Mick Jagger is rumored to know and like Harry Styles as well. The Rolling Stones frontman will no doubt be spending time with the handsome 22-year-old, who is said to resemble Jagger in both appearance and mannerism.

One Direction’s Harry Styles, despite any resemblance to Mick Jagger, has his acting role cut out for him in making Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones. Though it has been said that Harry is a bit of a womanizer, he’s never been open with that part of his life, nor is he part of the drug scene at all. He’s a pretty clean cut kid. Styles is also almost as famous for his consistent politeness as his music. Can Styles grasp Jagger’s bad-boy image?

Harry Styles grew up in a totally different era than the Rolling Stones, but he was always a huge fan of classic rock. His greatest challenge in this role will be comprehending the complex persona of Mick Jagger and the vast difference between the time periods of then and now. It is likely, though, a time that Styles has spent a lot of time studying from a musical perspective.

One Direction’s Harry Styles has a great appreciation for Mick Jagger’s music and feels greatly honored to participate in Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones.
