Arsenal: Preview And Team News

Arsenal displayed a truly breathtaking football on Saturday against London rivals Chelsea. The Gunners, who were usually dominated by Chelsea in recent seasons, gave an amazing performance which probably reminded football fans Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona at their very best.

Arsenal’s passing, movement, work-rate, and almost department were top-class against the Blues as the Gunners put Conte’s men into the sword.

Alexis Sanchez capped his world-class performance with an audacious goal, who kept composure to lob the ball over the goalkeeper. The Chilean has excelled in a central role this season, netting five goals in all competitions.

Mesut Ozil also scored for Arsenal in a quick counterattack move combining consummately with Sanchez.

Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi’s new partnership worked fine for Wenger’s team in the game as the duo had answer to every Chelsea attack. Hector Bellerin also had a scintillating performance, and the youngster once again showed why the big clubs in Europe are pursuing him closely.

Arsenal has won all four of their previous competitive clashes with the Swiss clubs. The last Swiss team to face Arsenal was Thun, which was back in 2005/2006 in which Arsenal won both legs of the tie.

Regarding injury news, it is certain that the combative midfielder Francis Coquelin will miss this fixture and possibly another two months of football, as reported by the Guardian.

On this issue, Wenger said, “Coquelin has a knee injury in the same place he suffered one against West Brom last year.”

“We don’t know if the damage is as big. We have to wait for 48 hours, but he left the stadium in a brace, so that’s the one negative. I’m a bit worried for that.”

Meanwhile, Per Mertesaker, Aaron Ramsey, and Danny Welbeck will also miss the clash, but Ramsey is likely to be available after the coming two-week international break.

In goal, David Ospina will keep his place as the Columbian had an amazing game in Paris against PSG. Ospine saved the day for Arsenal that day despite Arsenal being second best in almost every department.

Basel: Preview And Team News

Basel is traveling to London in a confident mood having not lost a game in last 12 games, and winning 11 of those. The Swiss Champion has won every game in their domestic league, aka the Super League. Basel is currently on the top of the league with 27 points from nine games, having accumulated all possible points.

Basel won its last game against St. Gallen thanks to the goals from Matias Delgado and Seydou Doumbia. But, in the Champions League opener against Ludogorets at home, Basel could just earn a draw.

This is the first time these two teams have met each other in a competitive game.

Arsenal vs. Basel: Predictions

One thing is sure, if Arsenal plays the game on a level with par to the thrashing of Chelsea this weekend, then Basel has almost no chance to take something from the Emirates. The Swiss club has made impressive start to domestic competitions as usual, but were held in the first high-profile game of this season against Ludogorets, a relatively weaker team in the UCL.

It is no doubt that Arsenal is the biggest team to faceBasel, so the RotBlau has to be at their best to give the Londoners a game.

Final Predicted Score: Arsenal 3-1 Basel
