Jim Carrey Accused Of Giving Cathriona White More Than One STD

Jim Carrey has been accused of giving ex-girlfriend Cathriona White more than one STD during their on-off relationship that started after the couple met in 2012. In a new report by Hollywood Life, White’s estranged husband, Mark Burton, is now suing Carrey for allegedly giving White three sexually transmitted diseases. Burton amended the wrongful death lawsuit that he filed on September 19 to state that Jim Carrey caused Cathriona White to commit suicide because of the alleged STDs.

Cathriona White committed suicide on September 28, 2015, at the age of 30 from an intentional drug overdose. People Magazine reported on the fatal overdose almost exactly one year ago, saying that Jim Carrey was “deeply saddened” by the passing of his “sweet Cathriona.”

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”

White, an Ireland native, actress, and makeup artist, was found dead on a Monday night nearly a year ago in her Los Angeles residence with a suicide note and a bottle of prescription medication. According to TMZ, the suicide note read that Cathriona White didn’t want to go on after actor Jim Carrey broke up with her.

“I’ve spent three days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don’t have the will this time.”

TMZ also reported that the pills Cathriona White took to end her life belonged to Jim Carrey. In fact, police reportedly found a text on White’s phone from Carrey asking where his painkillers were, saying they were gone from under the sink.

White had allegedly been taking prescription painkillers weeks before she killed herself — painkillers that were prescribed to her after a surgical procedure. However, White’s estranged ex-husband, Hollywood cameraman and Scientologist Mark Burton, 38, resurfaced in 2016 to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Jim Carrey, as reported by Slate on Wednesday.

According to the lawsuit that Burton filed on September 19, Jim Carrey, 54, allegedly gave Cathriona White the pills that she took to kill herself. The lawsuit went on to say that Carrey was responsible for White’s death and used his “immense wealth and celebrity status” to distribute what Burton called “illegal” prescription drugs.

“Ms. White was ill-equipped to ingest and manage highly addictive prescription drugs outside the care of a licensed physician.”

Jim Carrey immediately defended himself the following day, releasing a statement that called Mark Burton “evil.”

“Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope that someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.”

Burton was allegedly still married to White at the time of her death. But a source close to the White family claimed that Burton had not even been close to White when she passed. The Daily Mail reports that Burton actually lived hundreds of miles away from White in McMinnville, Oregon. The source went on to say that some of White’s relatives did not even know she had a husband.

Cathriona White and Mark Burton reportedly met on the set of an online TV show while Burton was a cameraman and White played an extra. The couple allegedly only married in 2013 when White wasn’t able to return to Ireland from the U.S. due to illegal immigration status.

However, Burton was named as White’s next of kin on official documents and allegedly only sued Carrey to cover the cost of White’s funeral, including the cost of sending her body back to her hometown in Ireland to be buried.

Burton’s lawsuit claims that Carrey failed to pay for White’s funeral, even though he allegedly offered. Now, in an attempt to win what White’s family is calling an “appalling” lawsuit, Burton reneged on his original claim that Carrey supplied White with the prescription drugs that she used to commit suicide.

Mark Burton is now claiming that Jim Carrey allegedly gave Cathriona White at least three sexually transmitted diseases, including herpes type I, herpes type 2, and gonorrhea. The new documents obtained by TMZ on Thursday allege that Cathriona White was “suicidal because she had STDs she believed she contracted from Jim Carrey.”

Burton also claims he has texts between White and Carrey from 2013 that reference STDs and that White allegedly wrote a letter before she committed suicide in 2015 that says she felt like she was “damaged goods” and would never be able to find someone new.

The New York Daily News published details about the undated “newly unearthed letter” they say they obtained a copy of on Friday.

Lawyers for Jim Carrey are slamming the new STD claims, dismissing them as “salacious” and calling Mark Burton an “opportunist” in a new report by People Magazine.
