Adele Dedicates Her NYC Show To Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Amid Split: ‘It’s The End Of An Era’

Adele’s sold-out New York City show turned into a Brangelina tribute to the surprise and delight of those who attended.

A few songs into her sold-out concert on Tuesday, the “Hello” singer asked the audience, “Can we talk about the elephant in the room, that #Brangelina broke up?” The 28-year-old singer also called the Jolie and Pitt divorce ‘the end of an era,’ as reported by USA Today.

‘I’m dedicating this show tonight to them,” Adele said.

“I don’t like gossiping and private lives should be private, but it is an end of an era, so I’m dedicating the show tonight to them because honestly, I’m really, really sad,” she added. “I don’t know them at all, but I was shocked when I woke up this morning.”

While some in the audience chuckled at the singer’s gesture, Adele seemed earnest in her tribute to one of the most celebrated celebrity couples in the world. And who better to mourn the Brangelina split than Adele, who has recorded more than a handful of chart-topping breakup songs in her illustrious career?

And if the Twitter reactions are any indication, Adele’s fans were really into it. The reactions were as varied as they are amusing. Also, it would appear that Adele has been declared the leader in a group called the “Brangelina breakup therapy session.”

One Twitter user described Adele’s reaction to the Brangelina split as “TOO GOOD.”

And another user made a witty reference to the lyrics of “Hello.”

To top it off, Adele’s performances seem to have helped some of the people in the audience to cope up with the Brangelina split, as one user wrote, “Enjoying me some @Adele @TheGarden. Perfect music to help me cope with a Brangelina free world.”

Adele, who recently won a Golden Globe for her amazing James Bond theme, “Skyfall,” wore a black and silver-sequined gowned during the packed concert.

For those who haven’t been keeping up, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences. As stated in court documents, the pair separated on September 15, more than a year after they married in August 2014. Jolie and Pitt are the parents of six children.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Jolie is seeking physical custody of their children, with Pitt getting visitation rights.

Angelina also asked to retain possession of “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects” as well as earnings and separate assets after the date of their divorce.

There have been rumors that a custody battle between the two is brewing on the horizon but a source close to the former couple assured that both parties request for a cordial breakup.

“Other than the fame of the people involved, this is like so many other divorces,” the source said.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Pitt told CNN. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

Jolie’s camp says that the decision was made in the interest of the entire family.

“This decision was made for the health of the family,” Robert Offer, an attorney for Jolie told CNN. “She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”

The Pitt and Jolie romance became the subject of controversy in 2004, the year they co-starred in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time.

In January 2005, Pitt and Aniston confirmed their breakup. Aniston filed for divorce from Pitt a few months later.

And then in April 2005, photos of Pitt, Jolie, and her adopted son Maddox while in Kenya emerged.

Before long, Angelina adopted daughter Zahara from Ethiopia. In early 2006, she announced that they were expecting a baby, Shiloh, who was born in May of that year. In March 2007, the couple adopted Pax from Vietnam. Angelina gave birth to twins Vivienne and Knox in July 2008.

Angelina and Brad got engaged in 2012.
