‘NBA 2K17’ Update 1.02 And ‘No Man’s Sky’ Patch 1.09 On PS4 Released

Two PS4 games — NBA 2K17 and No Man‘s Sky — got their respective updates recently.

The official market release of NBA 2K17 will not happen until tomorrow but basketball fans had the chance to grab the game earlier via the Early Tip-off Edition. Gamers who already own a PS4 copy of NBA 2K17 and those who are yet to buy their own copy upon its tomorrow release should know that a new game update has been released.

To be specific, NBA 2K17 update 1.02 is currently available on PS4. But make sure to have enough memory space because the latest game patch is 6.65GB-heavy, according to PlayStation Lifestyle. Although the official patch notes are yet to be released, the PS4’s Update History noted the following.

“Improved the stability of the title in addition to a number of general improvements to the user experience.”

Aside from the update, fans of 2K and Visual Concepts’ professional basketball video game franchise should be aware that NBA 2K17’s DLC called The All-Time College Bundle is available as well. Worth $14.99, this DLC pack contains “all 10 legendary college teams from Arizona, Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Michigan State for use in Quick Game,” the PlayStation Store described.

Meanwhile, No Man’s Skyfans also have their own game update to download. Same as the NBA 2K17 update, the official patch notes are not yet available. But “more bug fixes” can be expected from the update which weighs in at 733 MB, as reported by Attack of the Fanboy.

Furthermore, as noted in a Reddit post, the noticeable changes upon installing the update include the removal of stacking exploit, although players can still use any existing stacks. There were reports of graphics and sounds improvement, too.

It was also reported that “saves are quicker” once gamers got the latest No Man’s Sky update released by Hello Games. And it seems like “finding the last missing fauna” is much faster after the patch. “Can no longer hold down square while uploading multiple discoveries, nor triangle when moving multiple pieces of inventory,” the Reddit post added.

Below is a list of other random findings observed after getting the No Man’s Sky update 1.09, posted by Undertaker59 on Reddit.

  • Larger creatures seem more common.

  • A report of being able to flee a battle with pirates.

  • Reloading a save is faster.

  • Many reporting the game just “looks different.”

As of the moment, it looks like the No Man’s Sky update is available only for the PS4 version, Attack of the Fanboy also noted.

No Man’s Sky officially hit the shelves early last month. However, after all the hype and anticipation, the action-adventure survival video game became a subject of controversies, receiving a lot of complaints due to bugs, features promised that were not available and basically, for not meeting the gamers’ expectations. And to address these negative reviews, the president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida cited the PR strategy of the game, specifically saying that it wasn’t great.

“I understand some of the criticisms especially [creator/director] Sean Murray is getting because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from day one,” Yoshida shared via an interview with Eurogamer.

“It wasn’t a great PR strategy, because he didn’t have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer. But he says their plan is to continue to develop No Man’s Sky features and such, and I’m looking forward to continuing to play the game.”
