Detroit Police Sex Scandal: Jilted Officer Allegedly Tweets Photo With Gun In Her Mouth

Detroit’s chief of police Ralph Godbee has been suspended for 30 days pending an investigation after it surfaced that he was allegedly having an affair with another officer in the crime-ridden city.

The officer, Angelica Robinson, who ironically worked in the “internal affairs” division, apparently tweeted a photo of herself with her service revolver in her mouth after she learned Godbee was attending an out-of-town conference with another female officer.

AP reports that Angelica Robinson’s attorney David Robinson confirmed the affair was consensual and also said that Godbee sent officers to try to locate her (by triangulating her cell phone according to Fox TV) after the photo was tweeted:

“Obviously, it raised the implication of suicide,” David Robinson said. “The story is that she was hurt he was at a conference with another woman. Certainly this has created a lot of pressure. Unfairly, her future is a little bit uncertain. She has to suffer the humiliation.”

The attorney also claims that “she was trying to end the relationship, and Godbee didn’t want to let it go.”

Robinson has been reassigned to another job in the police department outside of the internal affairs division and has had to surrender her department-issued weapon. Both Robinson and Godbee (who is also a minister) are married, although Godbee filed for divorce in August.

In 2010, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing (the former Pistons star) fired Godbee’s predecessor as chief of police for being romantically involved with a subordinate.
