Young Thug Going To Wear A Dress On His Wedding Day?

Young Thug is one of the most peculiar rappers of this century. Currently aged 25, he is one of the most successful hip-hop artists on the planet, boasting a trademark rapping style that is hard to copy, simply because the lyrics are mostly incomprehensible blather conveyed in the voice of a space-cadet, or stoner if you like.

According to a review of his rap style by Stranger, “[Young Thug’s] unprecedented way of warping and chewing the air makes his voice an as-yet-uncolonized mode of expression, a living technological advancement of Black art, one of the few things in the rap canon that White people haven’t yet learned how to emulate.”

Away from his unique way of rapping, he has also raised eyebrows with his fashion sense, posing for magazines while wearing dresses. In July this year, he was featured on a Calvin Klein billboard in New York City donning a dress. The banner bore the slogan “I disobey in #mycalvins.”

Young Thug shared a picture of the sign on Instagram, while promoting his Jeffery album. Such illustrations, coupled with his use of seemingly gay expressions, have led many to believe that he is gay, as on some occasions he has called his male friends “bae” and “lovers.” About the gay allegations, he stated the following during an interview with the Guardian last year.

“I like everything that people say. No matter what they say. You gay, you a punk. You got a nice girlfriend, you’re ugly, you can’t rap, you’re the hardest.” Is it important that hip-hop has looks other than the hyper-masculine stereotype? His manager jumps in: “That’s why you like him in Europe. That’s how you dress. If he was some masculine guy, I’m not saying they wouldn’t like him, but he’s more relatable. To people who just like old hip-hop.”

A few years ago, a concerned Rich Homie Quan had to publicly address his relationship with Young Thug after speculation broke that he was in a gay relationship with the rapper. He offered the following statement to clarify.

“First and foremost I try not to get into all the comments, because it be so many, but at the same time I see them. If I respond back to that, that’s what they want me to do. Everyone in Atlanta know me and Young Thug is not gay. With Thug it’s different, it’s just his slang. I don’t take nothing of it or nothing. I know I ain’t gay, everybody know I ain’t gay… I get a joke out of it, ’cause it’s just so funny how people will take anything and run with it.”

This is as reported by HipHop Dx. Young Thug is currently reported to be getting ready to wear a dress on his wedding day. He will be getting married to Jerrika Karlae. He has reportedly stated that there will be two brides, as both will be wearing dresses. About his Jeffery dress, he opened up to Billboard about it saying that when he first saw it, he felt like God gave it to him. The following is an excerpt of the report from the site.

“Sitting in a Los Angeles studio in tight jeans and chains wrapped around his neck like pearls, Young Thug recalls the seeds of his sartorial rebellion.

“‘When I was 12, my feet were so small I wore my sisters’ glitter shoes. My dad would whoop me: ‘You’re not going to school now, you’ll embarrass us!’ But I never gave a f— what people think.'”

That said, Young Thug has presently broken a Billboard record thanks to his Jeffery album. It achieved five debuts on the Top Rap Albums chart 2016, and is said to have sold 37,000 units in its first week.
