Jimmy Fallon’s Popularity, Impressions, And Celebrity Guests Prove Unbeatable For His Competitors

Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show features celebrities who come from all walks of life. The different perspectives brought to the show by various personalities help to beat the monotony that can sometimes exist when a nightly show lacks variety.

Recently, Jimmy Fallon invited Jordan Spieth, an American professional golfer, on his show to talk about the ongoing FedEx Cup playoffs that will decide the winner of the richest prize in the professional golf circuit. The playoffs begin with The Barclay’s tournament that will be held at New York’s Bethpage Black.

Jimmy Fallon’s discussion with one of the youngest golf champions focused chiefly on the current tournament, however, the tone of the discussion significantly lightened up when the two started talking about other topics that included Jordan’s golfing experience with Bill Murray, the Hollywood star.

As usual, Jimmy Fallon involved his guest in a rather unusual game, and this time, it involved an act that the golfer is famous for – placing a marshmallow on a golf ball and chipping it into his own mouth. However, Jimmy Fallon urged his guest to change up his party trick by attempting to make the marshmallow land in the host’s mouth instead.

According to Yahoo!, the high-ranking golf champion tried to accomplish the task but his golf swings proved futile when the marshmallows missed the target by a close shave.

Two of the marshmallows chipped by Jordan bounced back after hitting Jimmy’s mouth, while another one hit Jimmy straight in his eye.

Jimmy Fallon enjoys a definite advantage over his competitors due to his enviable rapport with many of the A-list celebrities of Hollywood. In fact, popular actors love to come back to his show time and again to talk about their work, their life, and their upcoming projects. More importantly, the celebrities love to see Jimmy Fallon make the show even more interesting through skits, sketches, games, and his impeccable impressions.

Jimmy Fallon’s ability to keep his audiences entertained without insulting his celebrity guests has undoubtedly been one of the key reason for his popularity. Previously, one of the episodes of The Tonight Show became very popular when Jimmy Fallon mimicked Robert De Niro when the legendary actor was invited as a guest on the show.

To everyone’s surprise, Robert De Niro reciprocated Fallon’s mimicry by impersonating Jimmy Fallon in return. According to Time magazine, Robert De Niro again appeared on The Tonight Show recently and he remained unfazed when Jimmy Fallon mimicked him once again.

Jimmy Fallon’s hilarious act came when his celebrated guest was describing the boat that he owned. Robert De Niro’s mention of the boat reminded Jimmy of Cape Fear, the actor’s famous movie, whose climax scene was filmed on a house-boat. Jimmy quickly grabbed the opportunity and impersonated Robert De Niro’s manic laughter in the famous movie. Without showing any sign of being offended, the Cape Fear star quietly approved of Jimmy’s performance by mumbling a few words of appreciation. Later, at Jimmy Fallon’s insistence, the Hollywood actor even agreed to go on a boating trip with his host.

The variety and glamor that Jimmy Fallon brings to his show has enabled him to get an edge over his competitors like Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and James Corden, who can be seen hosting their respective talk shows on rival networks like ABC and CBS.

Jimmy Fallon’s competitors are trying their best to be as popular as him by inviting illustrious celebrity guests to appear on their shows. Jimmy Kimmel managed to land an interview with Hillary Clinton, while Stephen Colbert talked his way into an appearance by Ryan Lochte, the controversial Olympic swimmer and gold medalist.

However, the ratings have shown that it is difficult to match up to Jimmy Fallon’s nationwide popularity amongst television audiences. According to Deadline, Nielsen’s television market analysis revealed that Jimmy Fallon received a higher overall rating than both Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel.

On the other hand, the contrasting results revealed by Nielsen’s Local People Meters suggests that Jimmy Fallon’s key competitors do very well in local television markets, while Jimmy maintains his edge on the nationwide audience.
