Maureen McCormick On ‘Dancing With The Stars’: Which ‘Brady Bunch’ Moment Will She Recreate?

Maureen McCormick is ready to add another trophy to Marcia Brady’s already stuffed trophy case. The Brady Bunch star is headed to Dancing With the Stars. McCormick is following in the footsteps of her TV mom, Florence Henderson, who competed on the 11th season of the show back in 2010. Maureen will be paired with pro dancer Artem Chigvintsev for the 23rd season of the ABC celebrity ballroom competition.

Maureen McCormick is not the first former child star to sign on to DWTS—in fact, just about every season boasts at least one all-grown-up blast from the past— and if she’s anything like Dancing with The Stars’ recent ex-child stars Kim Fields (The Facts of Life), Jodie Sweetin (Full House) and Elizabeth Berkley (Saved By The Bell), she’ll probably perform at least one routine inspired by her TV sitcom past. In fact, fans already have posted a few ideas as to what classic Brady Bunch scenes they’d like to see McCormick recreate on Dancing With the Stars.

Indeed, Maureen’s character, Marcia, starred in some of the most memorable scenes of the classic ABC comedy. One of Marcia’s high points was when she famously get Monkees singer Davy Jones to play at her high school dance, but her worst moment was when her nose got in the way of her Brady brothers football game, right before her big date with the “big man on campus.” And then there was the whole “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” mantra that haunted this eldest Brady sister.

While Maureen McCormick may not have a background in dance, back in her Brady days she busted out quite a few moves, mostly during the cast’s musical numbers. (Those kids went on a lot of TV talent shows, apparently.) The multiple Brady Bunch spinoffs, including a campy, late ’70s variety show, also gave Maureen the opportunity to shake her booty.

While this will be Maureen’s first foray into the ballroom, it won’t be her first reality show. McCormick was the winner of the VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club, dropping 38 pounds on the celebrity weight loss competition and beating out fellow former child star Dustin Diamond and ’80s pop singer Tiffany. Maureen also appeared on CMT’s Gone Country, and last year she turned up on the Australian reality show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Maureen previously told Entertainment Weekly that she had been offered several reality shows that she didn’t want to do.

“I’ve gotten some [reality show] offers, but nothing that I’ve wanted to do,” Maureen told EW. It’s funny, I ask my daughter every time, ’cause she knows all of the reality shows. I always ask her, ‘Is this going to embarrass you? Is this a good one or not?’ She steered me away from The Surreal Life.”

Fans are happy that Maureen’s daughter had no problem giving her the OK for Dancing With the Stars, and with any luck will see a Brady in the audience. McCormick’s TV brother, Barry Williams, turned up to tango with their “mom” Florence Henderson when she was on the show, so you never know.

In addition to Maureen McCormick, the new season of Dancing With the Stars will include former Texas Governor Rick Perry, Olympians Laurie Hernandez and Ryan Lochte, rapper Vanilla Ice, TV stars Marilu Henner, Jana Kramer, and Jake T. Austin, singer-songwriter Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, retired Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Indy race car driver James Hinchcliffe, model/ TV host Amber Rose and Little Women: LA star Terra Jolé.
