Ariana Grande’s New Boyfriend: How Does Mac Miller Compare To Big Sean?

Ariana Grande’s got a new man in her life and she couldn’t be happier — even though Mac Miller seems awfully similar to her first high-profile relationship, Big Sean.

As reported by People, Grande’s latest squeeze, is rapper Mac Miller, her collaborator on the hit song “Into You.” And since then, the two have been inseparable.

“The 23-year-old ‘Into You’ singer and the 24-year-old rapper were spotted leaving a Big Apple nightclub on Friday night,” the web site reported, following her upcoming MTV VMA rehearsal. But earlier in the day, Mac Miller and Ariana Grande were also spotted at New York’s Museum of Ice Cream, a story she captured on Snapchat.

According to E! Online, the date was extremely intimate, despite it being in a group setting.

“Ariana and Mac have been spending a lot of time together,” a source shared with E! News. “They were flirting and touchy-feely throughout the night. It seems like they really like each other.”

With Ariana breaking up with her most recent boyfriend, backup dancer Rickey Alvarez, the “Side To Side” singer has apparently moved on. The fact that Mac Miller is a rapper just like her previous ex-boyfriend Big Sean has not gone unnoticed either. In fact, according to Hollywood Life, Big Sean has made the connection and already reacted to the news.

“He’s not tripping on her relationship nor thinking about it or care about it,” a source tells Hollywood Life.

“He and Ariana had what they had and it’s over. And don’t think for a minute he’s somehow jealous. Sean considers himself one of the best men Ariana’s ever dated. He’s cocky in that way. As far as he’s concerned, if she’s trying to somehow shade him by thinking he can be replaced she’s a fool. Replacing him is impossible. There’s only one Big Sean.”

So whether or not Big Sean is or is not mad that Ariana Grande has moved on to another rapper, the case can be made that she is trying to replace what she once had with the “Paradise” artist.

But aside from the fact that both men call rap their profession, what other similarities do Mac Miller and Big Sean have? For one, both met Ariana Grande through collaboration.

According to MTV, Ariana Grande and Big Sean first got together in August, 2013, when Ariana debuted the single “Right There” from her debut album Yours Truly, featuring Big Sean.

“Of course, they weren’t together at the time, but it sure sounds like a bit of forecasting, doesn’t it? ‘Boy, you make me feel so lucky/ Finally the stars align,’ she croons. ‘Cause you listen and you care/ You’re so different, no one compares.'”

Grande and Mac Miller meanwhile also first collaborated in 2013 on Ariana’s single “The Way.” Ariana sang “I love the way (you make me feel)” while Miller serenaded her with lines like “You’re a princess to the public, but a freak when it’s time/Said your bed be feeling lonely, so you’re sleeping in mine.”

And though it wasn’t until their most recent collaboration on Miller’s “The Feminine Divine” that brought them together, it seems the pair were certainly laying the groundwork even then.

Another similarity that Miller has to Big Sean is that both artists come from a rural, blue-collar hometown. Miller is from Pittsburgh, while Big Sean hails from Detroit. Both areas have a distinctive vibe that has, no doubt, shaped their personalities. It could be a trait that Ariana finds distinctively appealing in her men.

Other than that, both artists are looking to break big following their high profile hookups. Big Sean was relatively unknown to the masses before connecting with Ariana. Soon after however, his Dark Paradise album became a hot commodity despite the fact that they were already broken up at the time.

And Mac Miller is looking to make a name for himself with The Feminine Divine. With his name now linked romantically to Ariana Grande, it certainly will only help move records.
