‘Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’: New Character Revealed, Multiplayer Details, & More

Fans are steadily riding the Kamehameha wave of hype until Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 hits shelves all over the world.

While there hasn’t been much in regards to what Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will hold, Bandai Namco has released new details into some of what we can expect when the game drops.

Xenoverse 2 is going to play much like its former installment. There will be a plethora of characters: Janemba, Super Janemba, Turles, Super Saiyan Gogeta, Jaco, Towa, the Saibaman, Android 17, and Lord Slug have been announced to be playable in the new Xenoverse 2. Additionally, gameplay shows the action and how fighters will engage through combat. The mechanics look largely the same, but Bandai Namco is expressing their desire to focus on more than the single player aspect of the game.

In a report by Gamespresso, Bandai Namco mentions the multiplayer aspect of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 having an Expert Mission multiplayer mode. This will allow friends to team up against bosses, battling for victory and bragging rights.

“The ability to join-up with friends to take on one boss character not only embodies the spirit of Dragon Ball Z, it also gives players the opportunity to form strategic team play that will deliver the most dynamic multiplayer experience in any Dragon Ball Z game to-date,” Bandai Namco stated.

You can find the multiplayer trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 below.

The trailer shows much of what players will be capable of. One of the recognizable locations is the hub, Conton City, where players can move about and see each other while gathering various items and quests. It looks as though players will now be able to fly in such a zone, whereas they could only walk or run in the previous installment of Dragon Ball Xenoverse. We also see gigantic enemies that will possess both single and multi-target attacks.

At one point, we can see that one of the characters appears to be holding the Oozaru’s tail while the others attack relentlessly. This could be a mechanic for co-op purposes, though we’ll know more as time goes on. There’s even the growth of one of the characters, suggesting that players will be able to work together and execute special abilities to assist in combat.

In terms of new characters, Bandai Namco will be releasing a plethora of familiar faces. In a report by Christian Times, it’s announced that Imperfect Cell and Android 16 will be joining the fray. Two characters that are key in the arcs that follow the Dragon Ball story, these two characters ensure that we’ll be seeing multiple aspects of the DBZ saga relived.

There’s also the matter of Majin Vegeta being added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Bandai Namco specifically gave mention to the character, weighing in on the powerful Super Saiyan warrior being added to the roster.

“Majin Vegeta has incredible strength and stamina and also displays more muscle mass and definition compared to his normal self,” Bandai said.

Could we be seeing a “What If?” type of story that features Majin Vegeta? Speculation is high, though it could be nothing more than fan feedback reaching the ears of developers.

For those who want to get their hands on Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 early, it’s been reported by Gamespot that there will be an open beta to allow players to try Xenoverse 2 before its full retail release on October 25 of this year. If you’re ready for death beams and destruction, Xenoverse 2 is looking to deliver.
