Jessa Duggar And Ben Seewald Baby Name Ideas: Five Monikers Just As Bizarre As Spurgeon

Jessa Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben are expecting their second child, and many Duggar fans have just one question: Will kid number two (and counting) also be burdened with a bizarre name?

As People reports, Jessa and Ben began discussing names for their second child immediately after they saddled Jessa’s first tater tot, Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, with a moniker that’s strange even by celebrity standards. As the Inquisitr previously reported, baby Spurgeon is named after Charles Spurgeon, a 19th-Century Baptist preacher who spent a lot of time criticizing Catholics. Baby Spurgeon’s middle name pays tribute to late missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot.

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald told People that they have talked about choosing a baby name theme for their expanding brood, but they aren’t going to follow in the footsteps of Jessa’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, by giving their kids names that all start with the same letter. Instead, they may continue naming their children after famous Christians.

“We don’t want a letter theme,” Jessa said. “The only theme we might have are using names of heroes from the Christian faith.”

Long before he was born, Jessa and Ben dropped hints about which Christian hero their first son was going to be named after by sharing Spurgeon quotes on their Instagram pages. Shortly after the couple announced that they were expecting their first child, Jessa also posted a photo of a Charles Spurgeon devotional guide that Ben had gifted her with.

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald have also shared numerous quotes from other religious leaders who have influenced them on Instagram, so perhaps their next second child will be named after one or two of these famous Christians. Below are five possibilities based on their Instagram posts.

Pink Studd Seewald

This may sound like the name of a My Little Pony cosplay porn star, but it’s actually a playful combination of the surnames of Calvinist Biblical scholar Arthur W. Pink (1886-1952) and missionary Charles T. Studd (1860-1931). According to the Christian Post, Pink taught that God does not love all people, but only those who are “His sheep.” Ben Seewald is a fan of Pink’s assertion that “an ineffably holy God, who has the utmost abhorrence of sin, was never invented by any of Adam’s descendants.”

Jessa Duggar thinks that the Charles T. Studd quote, “Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last,” is so nice that she’s shared it on Instagram twice. According to Christian Today, Studd was a famous English cricketer who gave up the sport to become a missionary.

Baucham Washer Seewald

If Jessa and Ben want to name their baby after living Christians, they could consider this unusual moniker combo. Voddie Baucham is a Texas pastor who has argued against comparing the the civil rights movement to the fight for LGBT rights. He believes that “so-called sexual orientation is not innate and is changeable,” whereas race is unchangeable. Jessa is a fan of Baucham’s description of the Bible as “a reliable collection of historical documents, written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses.”

Paul Washer is a preacher and missionary who has preached against women wearing “sensual” clothing that draws attention to their bodies. Between the two of them, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald have shared about half a dozen Washer quotes on Instagram, so he’s obviously one of their favorite Christian leaders.

Tozer Kuyper Seewald

Christian Today describes preacher A. W. Tozer (1897-1963) as a self-taught “20th Century prophet.” According to SheKnows, some of Jessa’s Instagram followers accused her of being close-minded for using a Tozer quote to suggest that non-believers can’t be happy.

“Trying to be happy without a sense of God’s presence is like trying to have a bright day without the sun,” the quote read.

Ben Seewald similarly used a quote from Dutch Neo-Calvinist theologian Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920) to suggest friends aren’t really friends if they aren’t pushing their religious views on their pals.

“He is your friend who pushes you nearer to God,” the quote read.

Flavel Ravenwell Seewald

If Jessa Duggar and her husband want their child to get into Hogwarts, this is the perfect name for a future master of witchcraft and wizardry. According to Modernreformation.org, John Flavel (1630-1691) was an English Puritan who wrote a lot about suffering after he lost three wives and a son. Jessa is a fan of a Flavel quote about being humble.

Patheos describes Leonard Ravenhill (1907-1994) as “an old time preacher that warned of the wrath of God, hellfire, heaven, the need for repentance, confession of sin, living a life of holiness.”

“Are the things you are living for worth Christ dying for?” reads a Ravenhill quote shared by Jessa.

Piper Alcorn Seewald

Here’s an earthy-sounding name for a baby girl. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Ben Seewald shared a quote from John Piper in response to the mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando. Piper is an anti-gay Baptist preacher who has discouraged Christians from attending gay weddings. According to the Gospel Herald, Randy Alcorn is a Christian author who believes that there will be sports, automobiles, and aircraft in heaven.

“God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving,” reads an Alcorn quote shared by Ben.
