Kristen Stewart Slams Ex-Boyfriend Robert Pattinson, Claims Their ‘Twilight’ Romance Was ‘Gross’ And ‘Fake’

Kristen Stewart is clearing the air about her Twilight romance with Robert Pattinson. In a surprising turn, the actress slammed her former beau and called their relationship “gross” during a chat with T Magazine.

For diehard Twilight fans, Stewart’s revelations were the last thing they wanted to hear. According to Hollywood Life, Stewart blamed the media and fans for making her relationship with Pattinson into something it was not.

“People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product. It wasn’t real life anymore,” Stewart shared during the interview. “And that was gross to me. It’s not that I want to hide who I am or hide anything I’m doing in my life. It’s that I don’t want to become a part of a story for entertainment value.”

While the news is sad for many Twilight fans, especially for those holding out hope that Stewart and Pattinson will reunite, it likely feels good for Stewart to finally talk about what went down between her and Pattinson.

Apparently, Stewart’s relationship with Alicia Cargile is one reason why she decided to open up about it all.

“I would never talk about any of my relationships before, but once I started dating girls it seemed like there was an opportunity to represent something really positive,” she continued. “I still want to protect my personal life, but I don’t want to seem like I’m protecting the idea, so that does sort of feel like I owe something to people.”

That being said, Stewart kept her romance with Cargile a secret for a long time. According to E! Online, Kristen Stewart’s need for secrecy stems from physical anxiety she endured in her late teens and early 20s. Part of this anxiety came from Stewart’s rise to stardom on the Twilight series.

In fact, ABC News is reporting that the sudden spotlight made Stewart uncomfortable, especially when it came to her public romance with Pattinson.

Stewart and Pattinson dated during their time working on the hit movies. Unfortunately, their relationship ended in 2013 after Stewart was caught kissing her director, Rupert Sanders.

Now, Stewart has moved on with her life and has a very different attitude on what it means to be an actress and constantly dealing with the media.

“I’m not the typical showman. But at the same time, I want so badly to expose myself,” she stated in the interview. “I want to be understood and I want to be seen, and I want to do that in the rawest, purest, most naked way I can.”

Stewart also admitted that her previous struggles with being in the limelight helped her mature and forced her to deal with her anxiety fears.

“I do think that’s because of the storms I have weathered,” she added. “It’s not that they make you stronger or calloused – but they do make you human.”

For now, it appears as though her relationship with Cargile is starting to get serious. At the very least, Stewart’s romance has allowed her to finally open up about her personal life.

Although Twilight fans are most certainly disappointed with how Stewart described her relationship with Pattinson, it is good to see her talk about such a sensitive topic in the open.

Aside from her relationship issues, Stewart is currently promoting her upcoming film, Personal Shopper.

For his part, Pattinson is engaged to British singer FKA Twigs.

Kristen Stewart’s full interview with the magazine is set to hit newsstands on August 21. Check out the video below to learn more about her relationship with Alicia Cargile.
