‘Boy In The Attic’ Lifetime Movie: True Story Elements In New TV Thriller Starring Abbie Cobb, Max Lloyd-Jones

Boy in the Attic, a brand new TV movie thriller, debuts this weekend on the Lifetime Channel. Also known as Secrets in the Attic, the new movie is directed by Paul Shapiro and written by Christine Conradt and Ken Sanders.

It appears that Lifetime and their fans love attic movies, judging by the success of Flowers in the Attic, a remake that Lifetime premiered in 2014. This week, they’ll unleash Boy in the Attic, which tells the story of Callie, a 17-year-old teen who inherits an old house that was left to her and her mother, Rachel, by her grandmother, who recently died.

But what sounds like a good way to cash in turns into a bizarre twist of events that leads to Callie finding love in the wrong place. It seems that just before selling the house, Callie discovers a leak coming from the vent. When she is told by her mother to investigate further by taking a look into the attic, Callie finds an 18-year-old boy living there — a boy who has been watching Callie and her mother’s every move through the holes in the vent. But, Callie’s fright turns into intrigue after she learns the boy’s story and agrees to keep everything a secret. In the meantime, the teen girl falls madly in love with the stranger even though she learns that he is wanted for murder.

This 90-minute flick does look interesting, doesn’t it? It makes one wonder if something of this sort could happen in real life. Well, of course, it can. Check out this unbelievable true story below.

• In 2012, a Rock Hill, South Carolina, a woman named Tracy discovered that an ex-lover was living in her attic. It became apparent after the woman heard noises upstairs and saw nails popping out of the wall. When she sent her older sons up to the attic to find out what had caused the noise, they found a man sleeping there. The man turned out to be an ex-inmate and ex-boyfriend who had just been released from jail. Instead of moving on with his life after his release, he made a beeline for the woman he dated 12 years earlier, according to a report by the Inquisitr.
• Tracy, whose last name was not published, since the man was still on the loose, said that she met him when he came to her home to make a repair before they eventually started dating.
• The man urinated and defecated in cups during his stay, according to the Daily Mail.
• What made the story particularly bizarre was that the man was able to watch Tracy in her bedroom through the spaces in the vent. After he was found hidden in her attic, Tracy’s children were terrified to sleep in their rooms.
