‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Premiere: Ross Marquand Reveals How He Feels About The Season 6 Cliffhanger And Episode 1 Of Season 7

Ever since that cliffhanger of an episode that was the Season 6 finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead, fans have been speculating about what the very first episode of Season 7 will contain. Ross Marquand, who plays one of the characters in Negan’s line up, let’s fans know what they are in for.

Spoiler Alert: This article discusses Season 6 and 7 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid potential spoilers.

The Season 6 finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead showed one of the core characters bludgeoned to death by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Fans got to see the event happen from the perspective of Negan’s victim, which means no one actually knows who Negan killed yet. Instead, fans will have to tune into Episode 1 of the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead to find out. Some fans were worried AMC might draw out revealing the murder victim, but Greg Nicotero revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that Negan’s victim will be revealed at some point in Episode 1 of the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead.

“Obviously, we’ll find out in the first episode. Truthfully, in terms of the structure of it, we’re still editing it right now. We’re still playing around with that particular episode. It’s not finished yet so I really can’t say.”

Robert Kirkman, creator of the comic books that The Walking Dead is based on and one of the TV show’s executive producers, revealed at San Diego Comic-Con last month that Episode 1 of the Season 7 premiere will be worth the wait.

“It’s absolutely worth the wait. It’s a fantastic start,” he said, according to a TVLine article about Comic-Con.

And this is the same sentiment Walking Dead actor Ross Marquand (who plays Aaron in the TV series) had about the premiere episode of Season 7 of The Walking Dead when he spoke recently to PopSugar.

“Everyone is expecting it to be devastating, and it is. It’s a rough, rough exit, you know? That being said, I think it’s a great episode, too. I think it’s an episode that people will watch and talk about for years to come, honestly.”

The actor, who was a fan of the show before he was cast as Aaron, revealed he was also very happy with the way the Season 6 finale ended.

“For me, as a fan of the show, I loved it. I wasn’t frustrated by it in the slightest. I thought it was a great cliffhanger, and a really provocative, brutal way to end the season,” he explained to PopSugar.

But, even though he was happy with how the episode unfolded, it didn’t mean he didn’t feel the same anguish fans felt as they watched it. For him, filming the scenes involving Negan in the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead were just as devastating as it was for the fans, knowing that a much-loved character was going to die. And, for him, the death was personal. He pointed out that the cast of The Walking Dead are like a family unit, and when one of them dies — particularly in the manner involved in the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead — it is just like losing someone in real life.

Many fans — especially those who read the comic book — have been focusing on the arrival of Negan for some time now. In the comic books, little had been known about Negan as far as his backstory goes. However, it was recently revealed that TV viewers will get to find out about Negan’s backstory in Season 7 of The Walking Dead, which is much sooner than it was revealed in the comic books.
