Lamar Odom Is Sober Just Under One Year After A Drug Overdose Nearly Left Him Dead?

Has Lamar Odom finally called it quits with his wild behavior?

Following an alleged drug relapse and a drunken plane incident, which resulted in the former NBA player vomiting on himself and getting kicked off a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York City, Lamar Odom’s trainer claims he’s gotten a hold of his addiction.

“From what I know [he’s not drinking], because right now he is focused and that is the state I have him in right now,” Oneil Pryce, the owner and founder of Real Deal Fitness gym, told Us Weekly during an interview on August 10. “I have been letting him know that [this] is going to be a rough road, a hard road. And one thing he has to do is make sure that the partying, the drinking, all of that stuff, is going to be tough on his body. So right now, he has been drinking his water, staying low key and pretty much staying out of sight of everybody else, all of the negative stuff.”

After leaving Los Angeles after his wife, Khloe Kardashian, filed for divorce for the second time, Lamar Odom reportedly began partying with friends and enjoying visits to strip clubs while indulging in alcohol and marijuana. Us Weekly also claimed in a previous report that Lamar Odom’s behavior was so concerning to his children, Lamar Jr. and Destiny, that their mother, Liza Morales, and his aunt, JaNean Mercer, unsuccessfully staged an intervention with addiction specialist Ron Dock in hopes of having Odom transported to the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in Florida for substance abuse treatment.

At the time of the failed intervention, Lamar Odom was said to be spiraling out of control, but according to Pryce, he has since turned over a new leaf and is now focusing on getting his life back together. That said, Pryce admitted that Lamar Odom may not be surrounding himself with the best people after leaving his wife and her family behind in Calabasas, California, where he had been living up until recently.

“He has been through a lot,” Pryce said. “He [has] certain people around him that I am trying to get him away from, and just keeping him positive.”

As for his workout regimen for Lamar Odom, Pryce said he has to go easy with the athlete due to his October 2015 drug overdose and the condition it left him in.

“He might look physically fit on the outside, but on the inside, you have to understand, his liver has been through a lot, his kidney has been through a lot, and his heart has been through a lot,” Pryce explained.

Lamar Odom was found unconscious on October 13, 2015, at a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nevada, and remained in the hospital for three months as he recovered.

“I’m just trying to show him it is one day at a time … Just two, three months ago, people were saying you weren’t going to walk again, you weren’t going to live. So, just to be where you are right now, you are doing good. And as far as workouts, he is actually making great strides,” Pryce added to Us Weekly. “This is a gleam of hope, just a gleam [that] can get [him] through the darkest hours.”
