Sick: Woman Charged after Punching a Kid in a Wheelchair

This has to be one of the most infuriating stories I’ve seen in months. A 23 year old woman from Dallas was charged Tuesday after punching a 13 year old boy in a wheelchair while fighting over a soccer ball.

The boy and his uncle were playing with the soccer ball outside Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children near Dallas, TX, on Tuesday when the ball bounced into some bushes. The uncle went into the bushes to retrieve the ball and found that the woman and her sister were also trying to get the ball. The uncle got to the ball first and took it over to his nephew and placed it into his lap as he sat in the wheelchair.

The boy was not only in the wheelchair, he also was fitted with what’s known as a surgical halo, which is an apparatus screwed to his skull because he needed it there for an upcoming surgery.

So the two women were adamant about getting the soccer ball, trying to grab it from the boy’s lap. The woman swung at the boy twice, but her blows were blocked by the uncle. The third swing, however, made contact with the surgical halo attached to the boy’s skull and caused him severe pain.

The uncle called police who charged the women. She is being held in the county jail on a $1,500 bond.

Had I been the uncle, she would have been lucky to be near a hospital.
