‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Superhero Duo Could Link To ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Character [Rumors]

Thor: Ragnarok is rumored to have a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 character make an appearance. There’s not much known about the characters and their locations in the movie regardless of the footage given at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con. However, Planet Hulk armor had been displayed at the Comic-Con as seen worn by Hulk in the comics. Now, The HashTag Show on YouTube made a revelation via a source at Marvel that seems to lead a tie-in between Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 via the debuting character Mantis played by Pom Klementieff.

“Our source tells us that Thor and Hulk will in some way encounter the Cotati, one of the oldest species of aliens in the Marvel Universe.”

In the comics the Cotati are stationary plant-like aliens that have telepathic powers. However, it would seem the Marvel Cinematic version of these creatures will look similar to Mantis. If you take the origins further back, the Cotati are on the Kree home world of Hala. The thing is the source at Marvel can’t confirm that Mantis will indeed be in the Thor sequel.

In the comics, Mantis is actually half-German and half-Vietnamese. As an infant, she was left with a sect of the Kree called the Priests of Pama. In contrast to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Nerdist reported that since Gunn declared Star-Lord to be the only Earth-born Guardian, that Mantis may be changing up her origin. So it would seem this story is somewhat in alignment with the breaking Thor: Ragnarok rumor.

Mark Ruffalo mentioned in the past that Thor: Ragnarok is a “road movie” likened to the old Midnight Run flick with Robert Dinero, according to Screen Crush. That said, it looks like this road trip may cross paths with the Kree home world.

“There’s a little bit of Midnight Run, with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro. I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner.”

Klementieff has been making her way to social media via James Gunn’s pages. In fact, the director has been keeping fans up-to-date with his work for quite a while now. It was about three months ago that he teased the Mantis character with a sketch of a creature with a set of antenna. She was confirmed to play the role back in February according to Nerdist.

In July, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 director James Gunn took to a question/answer session on Facebook. He was questioned about the appearance of Infinity Stones in his movie, according to GameSpot.

“There will be infinity nothing. It’s a story about the Guardians and isn’t meant to lead to anything else.”

On top of that, Gunn also confirmed in another question/answer session the lacking Mad Titan in his film.

“Thanos isn’t in this movie. I think he’s gonna have a little bit to do and say when it comes to a certain wars and infinity. We’ve got other fish to fry.”

Gunn also spoke highly of Klementieff as he thought she was very easy to cast.

“We have a new cast member playing a new member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and she was the most awesome and easiest person I’ve ever had to cast. She blew me the [frick] away. She’s amazing, and I can’t wait to share her with the world.”

This could be proven by a rather emotional rehearsal session she had with Dave Bautista’s Drax character. Gunn talked about how they were in a tear jerking portion of the session when Michael Rooker mooned them.

“We were very emotionally moved; Pom had tears in her eyes, speaking this wonderfully emotional speech, and we look up and through the glass of the doorway… there’s Michael Rooker’s bare, naked ass pressed up against it.”

Thor: Ragnarok debuts Nov. 3 2017 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 releases on May 5, 2017. Hopefully we’ll see a nice tie-in between the two along with Mantis.
