Benedict Cumberbatch recently turned 40, and the internet went crazy about it, according to InStyle. The Sherlock actor has had a number of accomplishments in his lifetime, and it hasn’t been only about landing major roles in the film and TV industry.

For the special occasion, InStyle put together a list of nine things Benedict Cumberbatch has managed to accomplish in the past 40 years. Apart from making the internet go crazy for his photobombs on red carpet events, thousands of memes from Sherlock as well as having his name misspelled and mispronounced, Cumberbatch is having a life full of accomplishments.

To start the list, Benedict Cumberbatch’s role as Doctor Strange in the Marvel cinematic universe was praised by Doctor Strange himself. The Marvel Comics character gave a thumbs up to the casting choice of Cumberbatch in the most recent comic book series Gwenpool.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a professionally trained actor who learned from the best of the best acting coaches before becoming famous. In fact, he earned his Masters of Arts in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, according to Digital Spy.

Another accomplishment is the fact that the British actor is taking on an American classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Benedict Cumberbatch was cast as the main character of the upcoming film, which is being adapted from Dr. Seuss’s story of the same name.

Benedict Cumberbatch has also earned lots of critical acclaim for his acting. The 40-year-old actor has won three Primetime Emmy Awards, and last year he secured an Oscars nomination in the Best Actor category for his role of British genius Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.

Benedict Cumberbatch has also won six British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards, two Golden Globe awards, and five Screen Actors Guild awards.

But acting in films and TV shows is not the only thing Benedict Cumberbatch can do well. The 40-year-old actor is also known for his roles in theater, doing impressions on radio as well as narration.

Thanks to his vast experience playing in the theater, Benedict Cumberbatch has landed main roles in major productions like Frankenstein, After the Dance, and Hamlet. The Sherlock actor has served as a narrator in a number of BBC documentaries as well as many documentaries for National Geographic and the Discovery Channel.

And more importantly, Benedict Cumberbatch is a father! Just last summer, on June 1, he and his wife, Sophie Hunter, had their first baby, Christopher Cumberbatch.

If that’s not enough, Benedict Cumberbatch is also known for his charitable acts. In June last year, shortly after the birth of his son, Cumberbatch was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for his charitable efforts as well as his acting talents.

Benedict Cumberbatch has also proven that he can master just about any role. The 40-year-old actor has had a number of stunning performances over his lifetime, and all of them are different. Playing an awkward genius in The Imitation Game? Check. Playing Smaug and the Necromancer in The Hobbit film series? Check. Playing a genetically engineered superhuman in Star Trek Into Darkness? Check. Playing a plantation owner in 12 Years a Slave? Check. Playing the incredible Dr. Stephen Strange in the upcoming Doctor Strange? Check.

And last but not least, Benedict Cumberbatch sure knows how to wear classy suits. His stylish and elegant red carpet style has repeatedly been praised by fashion critics. And it doesn’t matter that the Sherlock actor has an extremely busy schedule and is a dad, he never fails to impress with his sense of style on the red carpet.
