‘The Originals’ Season 4: What Is Known About The New Big Bad [Spoilers]

The Originals Season 4 will not premiere this fall. Instead, The CW network pushed it back to early 2017. However, the cast and executive producers went to Comic-Con 2016 to discuss the supernatural TV show. Many spoilers were revealed, including some tidbits on the new big bad.

There are plenty of spoilers for The Originals ahead. If you don’t want to know any details on what will happen next, then do not continue reading.

Last season, Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) had to face the evil acts he has committed over the centuries. Although the character is not known for being selfless, this is exactly what he did in the season finale. He ended up in a coma, placed in a brick tomb, left with only feelings of pure agony.

The Mikaelson siblings survived but are not dead like Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis) thinks. Instead, Freya (Riley Voelkel) whisked herself along with Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic), and Rebekah (Claire Holt) to a dreamscape. Their lives are tethered to Klaus’, and they can only sit up there and wait for a cure.

Many fans of The Originals knew there would be a time jump, but they had no idea it would be five long years. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Klaus Mikaelson will wake up. It was speculated that Marcel may have no choice if a new enemy rolls into New Orleans.

It turns out that one part of that theory was correct. According to TV Guide, there will be a new big bad in Season 4 of The Originals. This won’t be the typical villain. This individual will be evil and sadistic. It was also teased that the new adversary will be looking for Klaus and have a score to settle with the comatose vampire.

The spoiler report only had a few details, but they were interesting. The new big bad in Season 4 is a vampire and has a beef with Klaus that has lasted for centuries. So much for time healing old wounds.

TV Guide added that the new big bad in The Originals will do anything to get his way, no matter how evil it is. Unfortunately, Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) is his first target.

Speaking of Vincent in The Originals, the actor revealed some information on his relationship with Marcel in Season 4.

“Though Vincent doesn’t like Marcel, there’s definitely a respect that’s there, and they both understand that this is a city that belongs to both of them,” Yusuf Gatewood told Hypable, “and we’re the only people I think who’re going to be able to protect it from threats within and outside. I think it’s more of a realization that in order to protect what I actually love, I have to work with people that I don’t.”

It sounds like Vincent and Marcel will have to work together to protect New Orleans from the new enemy. The Season 4 big bad is “old evil” and was described as being icky, unctuous, and miasmic.

How will the new enemy result in Marcel bringing Klaus back? If the theory is correct, it is because everyone will have to join forces. The villainous character must be defeated to save the city and themselves.

It certainly sounds like the new big bad in The Originals Season 4 will be powerful and frightening. Even more information was revealed by the executive producer.

“I think one thing that all of our characters would be able to get behind is a threat to Hope and to the other children of New Orleans,” Michael Narducci explained. “New Orleans-born witches, New Orleans-born werewolves, New Orleans-born people, there’s something that’s happening to them. When the Mikaelsons and Marcel find out about that, they’re all going to have to come together in a pretty interesting way.”
