Hayes Grier Update: YouTube Star And ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Alum Badly Hurt, Taken To Hospital Following Car Crash

Hayes Grier was taken to a hospital after the YouTube star and Dancing With The Stars alum was in a car crash that left him bruised and bloodied.

Word of the crash spread on Thursday after Grier’s brother gave an update to fans through his Twitter page. This led to the hashtag #PrayForHayes trending on Twitter, with many fans sharing their hopes for a recovery and others seeking more information about the crash.

Grier’s brother, Nash, provided an update saying that Hayes was hurt in the crash and was coughing up blood, but that he was alert as he was taken to the hospital.

“He can move & talk (thank god) but he’s coughed up a lot of blood. That’s all I know. Praying he has a quick recovery.”

In a later and more detailed update, Nash explained to fans how Hayes was recovering.

“Luckily no major stuff,” he posted on Twitter. “All scans came back negative for any internal bleeding. He does have a concussion, fractured top two ribs and bruised lung on one side. He is in a lot of pain.”

After making his name on social media, Hayes Grier ended up as the youngest contestant ever to appear on Dancing With The Stars. He is also the star of the digital show Freakish, which was recently picked up by Hulu.

The car crash came just one week after Hayes Grier got some big news. The YouTube star will be getting his own comedy series, Top Grier, that shows him running his family’s 19-acre farm in North Carolina. The series will be released on Verizon’s Go90.

As Variety noted, production for the 12-episode series was slated to begin this week, and Grier seemed very excited to get started.

“What I love about this show is that it’s real,” Grier told the outlet. “Mooresville is so special to me, and I’m getting the chance to literally open my front door and invite my fans into my life!”

The series is meant to be a homecoming for Grier, who had relocated to Los Angeles after hitting it big but is originally from North Carolina. Hayes Grier is also a co-creator of the show along with Trium INE Entertainment’s Eric Day.

Day had plenty of praise for Hayes when the project was announced earlier this month, saying he has handled his rise to stardom with grace. Day said the show’s concept should also be a hit.

“The first time I met Hayes, I knew I had to work with him. We bonded over how we both grew up and immediately knew that we had a show on our hands” Day told Variety. “Thanks to social media, we’ve all watched Hayes come of age under Hollywood’s bright lights, but that’s only one side of the story. We’re excited to follow Hayes back to his roots, and watch how he readjusts to life on the farm. But let’s be clear, this is not going to be all ‘Green Acres.’ This show will be filled with a lot of high-octane action and plenty of epic pranks — something for everyone.”

Variety noted that Grier is tailor-made for Go90, which is aiming for a younger audience. Grier himself is a mainstay of the internet, with more than 14 million social media followers across several different formats.

It’s not yet known how Hayes Grier’s car crash may affect the production of his new show. If he has a long recovery from the injuries, there is a good chance that it could push the schedule back, but there are not yet any long-term updates on Grier’s injuries or conditions.
