Raiders Head Coach punches assistant

Reports are leaking out of Oakland Raiders camp that Head Coach Tom Cable was involved in an incident with defensive assistant coach Randy Hanson. Apparently word first leaked that Hanson had been punched in the jaw by another member of the raiders staff. Fanhouse.com is now reporting that that other member of the staff was Cable himself. Apparently this incident took place on August 6th.

Hanson was left with a fractured jaw, and was taken to the Queen of the Valley Hospital where he declined to file a police report about the incident. Staff of the hospital apparently contacted authorities anyway. However Napa city police consider the matter closed since the victim is unwilling to pursue charges.

Cable took over the Raiders four games into the 2008 season when the Raiders fired former coach Lane Kiffin. Before that Cable served as the Atlanta Falcons Offensive Line Coach under former head coach Jim Mora.

There is little to no word on what sparked this incident at Raiders camp, but most NFL football fans have come to expect these kinds of antics from the boys in silver and black. If these accusations are true and Cable punched one of his assistants then some from of punishment should come from either the team or the league. It is not ok for a coach to assault his fellow coaches.
