2016 MTV VMA: Beyonce and Adele Lead With Most Nominations

The nominees for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards have been announced, MTV reports, with Beyonce and Adele bagging a whopping 19 nominations between them. Bey is in the lead with career best 11 nominations for her album Lemonade, which includes the song “Formation” — a contender for Video of the Year along with Adele’s “Hello.”

The Brit pop icon had the second-most nominations at the VMA: eight, out of which seven are for her record-breaking video “Hello” alone.

Other competitors for Video of the Year are Kanye’s infamous video “Famous,” Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry.”

The late David Bowie also features on the list of nominees, thanks to his last album Blackstar, whose song of the same name is a contender for Best Art Direction.
