WWE News: Sasha Banks Talks Her Mystery Partner At WWE Battleground

WWE Battleground is Sunday, and the WWE is attempting to put together a great card before the brand split goes into effect. To start, the Miz is defending his Intercontinental championship against Darren Young with Bob Backlund. This will be Young’s first title opportunity since making the change to his new gimmick. He already has a win over the Miz, and is looking to capitalize on his current momentum. On RAW, it appeared the WWE Universe was behind him.

Also on the WWE Battleground card is John Cena with Enzo and Big Cass vs. the Club. AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson will be “split up” after Sunday, despite what Styles said on social media. Styles was drafted to SmackDown, while the other two are going to RAW. The Wyatt Family is set to face the New Day before the family is split up. New WWE Tag-Team champions will not be named, simply because Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan are headed to the blue brand.

In the main event, the Shield triple threat match is finally taking place. WWE fans wanted it to be at a WrestleMania, but instead, it’s taking place much sooner. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins surely won’t disappoint. Ambrose, the current WWE champion, is the only member of the Shield going to SmackDown. Unless they are splitting up the titles again, the chances of the WWE title going to Tuesday nights are slim.

Lastly, in an underrated tag-team match, Charlotte and Dana Brooke are slated to face Sasha Banks and a mystery partner. Banks has teased who her partner will be, even denouncing Bayley as a possibility. In a recent interview with BET, Sasha Banks talks about her mystery partner at WWE Battleground.

“I get a lot of tweets. It could be Nikki Bella — I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors. It might be Bayley. The [WWE] Draft just happened and we just got a lot of new girls — Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Nia Jax. Could be one of them. You never know. The Boss doesn’t need friends, but the ones I do have I keep very close. I finally get to get my hands on Charlotte, who has been running from me since day one. She’s been hiding because she knows I’m better than her. After this Sunday, I’m going to prove to Charlotte that I deserve a one-on-one match with her.”

Banks has done a great job at keeping it a secret. Rumors are still leaning in the direction of Bayley, but after her win against Nia Jax on the last episode of WWE NXT, the chances of her getting called up to the main roster aren’t looking good at this time. WWE officials presumably don’t want Bayley overshadowing a potential title match at SummerSlam between Banks and Charlotte.

To add even more fuel to the fire, Banks utilized social media perfectly by claiming nobody will guess her mystery partner at WWE Battleground.

In another tweet, Banks said she is going to “light it up” at a WWE house show in Wildwood, New Jersey. Now, for the hardcore wrestling fans out there, those three words were the intro to AJ Lee’s music. That was a subtle comment on the part of Banks, but there’s no way Lee is coming back to the WWE.

Who will Sasha Banks’ partner be at WWE Battleground? There are rumors of a new and improved Naomi coming back, who was her partner in a recent stable. That’s not a strong possibility, but it could happen. Most WWE fans want Bayley, who is the ultimate babyface. Those two would get the loudest pop of the night. Jax is a heel. Alexa Bliss or Carmella wouldn’t make sense. It’s a shame Trish Stratus is retired.
