SDCC 2016: ‘iZombie’ Panel Reveals Liv Will Eat The Brain Of A Dominatrix

San Diego Comic-Con is on again, along with it, plenty of fresh TV news about CW Network’s iZombie. So, here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Season 3 of iZombie.

  • iZombie was officially renewed for Season 3 by the CW Network back in March. The show will return in 2017, with filming beginning shortly. Rose McIver, who plays the main character Liv Moore, has been keeping fans updated on the show’s progress via her Instagram account since the writers started work on Season 3 of iZombie.

  • Every season sees Liv Moore eat a variety of brains with varying results. It is a constant struggle to keep up with new occupation and character traits that can be attributed to the brains Liv eats. Earlier this year at Oz Comic-Con, Rose McIver revealed that she would like to see Liv eat the brains of a hockey player on the same episode Major ate the brains of a figure skater. She would like the CW Network to name this episode of iZombieiceZombie.” And it seems the CW Network may have listened to Rose’s request. Well, kind of anyway. According to Zap2It, iZombie executive producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright revealed at Comic-Con this year that Liv and Major would be eating complimentary brains, just not those of a hockey player and a figure skater. However, the gender bent will still be present. Instead, fans can expect to see the zombie duo eat the brains of a Phil Dunphy-like father (Phil Dunphy is the father in Modern Family played by Ty Burrell) and daughter in Season 3 of iZombie.

“In the second episode they’re on complimentary brains — not the same brain but brains that have a relationship together. They eat the brains of a dad and daughter… Liv is the dad and Major is the belligerent teenager. It should be pretty fun.”

  • Aly Michalka revealed to Entertainment Weekly at Comic-Con that her character, Peyton, will likely not end up with Blaine permanently in Season 3 of iZombie, even though Peyton is so obviously into the bad boy zombie. Ultimately, Michalka thinks Peyton will make the right choice.

“I think that it’s interesting to see Peyton still into Blaine, even after finding out he’s a bad dude and has a shady past. I think her heart knows that she should ultimately be with Ravi.”

  • As for some of the other brains Liv will be consuming in Season 3 of iZombie, according to Gizmodo, fans can expect to see a yoga/meditation-type brain and that of a dominatrix (in separate episodes, of course). However, the dominatrix episode has proven tricky to get past the higher powers. According to Rob Thomas, fans will have to wait until Episode 5 of Season 3 to find out just how much of what they want to get past the censors makes it through.

“With the dominatrix brain, as these men are being dominated and what they chose, you see one of these men as a Catholic schoolboy getting his knuckles rapped by a dominatrix in a nun outfit. We’ll have long conversations, ‘Can we get that one by?’ If you do not see that in an episode, know that someone above us [vetoed it], because it’s going in there, whether it makes through to the other side, you’ll watch episode five and know.”

  • While there are some characters in iZombie that love living the zombie dream, Malcolm Goodwin revealed it was unlikely his character in iZombie, Detective Clive Babineaux, would be happy to be a zombie. “I think the only way Clive would ever agree to something like that is if he’s saving someone else’s life,” Goodwin revealed to Entertainment Weekly during Comic-Con.
  • For iZombie newcomer Vivian Stoll (played by Andrea Savage), Season 3 will reveal she is not a villain. The show’s executive producer, Rob Thomas, revealed at the Comic-Con panel that Vivian wasn’t a “big bad” according to Gizmodo. However, Liv will have to struggle to trust Vivian moving forward into Season 3 of iZombie.
