Jaden Smith Parties Like A Kardashian, Explains Why He Wears Skirts [Video]

Jaden Smith just turned 18 (finally), and now the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith is living up his newly-achieved adulthood with some famous pals. Indeed, according to a report by WWD,Jaden Smith recently spent some time partying like a Kardashian as he chilled on the top of the tallest building in L.A. Jaden was joined by Kendall Jenner (a former hook-up and current “good friend”), her famous big sister, Kim Kardashian, and a virtual bevy of the hottest young stars in Hollywood as he kicked it at the OUE Skyspace L.A. lounge, also known as the tallest open-air observation deck in California.

In addition to spending time with the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, Jaden Smith was also joined by Usher, Marlon Wayans, Ariel Winter, Calvin Harris, and a bunch of other A-list celebs at the posh locale, which was the site of an event hosted by Kendall Jenner.

The OUE Skyspace Lounge sits 70 floors above downtown L.A., and it’s home to the now-famous new “Skyslide,” which is a 45-foot glass slide suspended from the side of the building. The terrifying slide is billed as a “family attraction.” The red carpet event, hosted by Kendall Jenner and attended by Jaden Smith (and an array of other celebs), was presented by John Terzian and Brian Toll of The H.Wood Group, and ultimately it appeared to be little more than an opportunity for Hollywood’s rich and famous to rub elbows.

According to the invitation, sent out to Jaden Smith and others, guests were expected to dress nicely. Not just nicely, but in “cocktail attire.” According to the material sent out to local media, the dress code was a big deal — media outlets were put on notice that “Cocktail Party Attire Required/Strict Dress Code or No Entry.”

Many believe that the strict dress code was to placate Jenner, and most of the guests followed the edict, meaning that the vast majority of the ladies in attendance had to omit their turn on the Skyslide. However, Jaden Smith (a chronic fashion rule-breaker) appeared to have a different definition for “cocktail attire” than the rest of the crowd.

Rather than dressing to the nines, Jaden Smith wore a hoodie, jeans and a 90s-inspired flannel.

Not surprisingly, despite his certainly deliberate fashion faux pas, Jaden Smith was welcomed at to the posh party.

As Instinct reports, last week’s event was far from the first time that Jaden has showed up in public wearing less-than-traditional attire. In fact, Jaden Smith has a long history of breaking down fashion barriers, and he’s made himself a fortune banking on his gender-bending style. According to multiple reports, the newly-minted adult was worth a whopping $8 million before he even reached his 18th birthday.

One of Jaden’s most touted fashion faves has to be his habit of wearing dresses and skirts. His cross-dressing style has allowed the young Mr. Smith to become the first male face of Louis Vuitton’s women’s fashion line — Jaden Smith has even showed up to prom wearing a skirt.

In an interview with Instinct, Jaden Smith explains the reasoning behind his obsession with wearing what would traditionally be described as “girl clothes.”

“So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him.”

In a nutshell, Jaden Smith is working diligently at being more than just the pampered kid of Hollywood royalty. He’s trying to be an example and a role model, while paving the way for others to express themselves without fear of retribution.

According to Jaden, he wants to help bring about the change that he wants to see in the world. Jaden Smith has even said that making these changes come about and increasing acceptance among young people was a major motivating factor behind his foray into his career as a Louis Vuitton model.

“It was lit because we all knew that we were going to impact the culture and change the game and make a difference.”

What do you think? Is Jaden Smith helping to bring about change in a positive way?
